The Kre-O line is certainly NOT what I expected

Let me get one thing straight. This is not another thread complaining about a line. Well, let me start out fresh:

I went to Wal-Mart this wonderful evening, hungry for some (hopefully) DOTM Wave 3 figures to return to said retail. (for I had gone to Wal-Mart one day, and they had Wave 3, I go the next, they don't, and it's been that way since I got Laserbeak). There were none. So, out of curiosity, I walked my way over to the LEGO section (looking for the KRE-Os). They had a few of the big sets, but I wasn't interested. My budget was thin enough that I could only get 1 basic set (with no minifigure :-( ). I picked up Optimus Prime just to see how the line was.

Back when we heard about the KRE-O line, I despised it. I thought it was going to be another MEGA-BLOCKS, with LEGO bricks with the KRE-O logo on it. When I opened the package up, the plastic felt nice, and I did not spot one KRE-O logo on the brick. At least they weren't labeling as their own brick models.

Anywho, I put Optimus Prime together, I can't stop looking at him. He's quite good for a basic class and with the last two pieces you have for Robot Mode (The long brick and the 2 pegged brick) left over I put together to make a rifle (not a very good one...)

I expected KRE-O to be CRAP-O. It turns out, I'm now fond of the line and I grow thirsty for more. But I might just be sticking with the Basic Class and buying the Minifigs off of eBay.

Anybody else think that you were going to completely hate this line, but once you got one of the toys, you liked it? Please respond, I'd love to hear from you! :D

I was never really sure what I was going to think of it. I picked up the huge $65 Optimus Prime the first day they were out at my Wal-mart and was pleasantly surprised. Since then I've gotten two of the basic figures and enjoy them as well. I don't think I'll be getting any more though. But oh well, I'm happy with what I've got!

The Kreo line rocks- MUCH better than the DOTM line if you ask me.

Check out some of the bigger ones like the $60 Optimus, $25 Bumblebee, Starscream, and Megatron. They look great once built and unless you look real closely don't really resemble a "brick-built model" if you know what I mean. They look like really sweet mash ups of movie-verse and G1. I highly recommend them all. I'm hoping to pick up a couple more in the next week. I've kind of decided to stop with the DOTM line so I can collect Kreos instead. They're high quality and so much fun to build and play with. I hope they keep cranking these out. Props to Hasbro :APPLAUSE:

Yes. They are quite enjoyable, more than I expect. Plus, you can give them any upgrades easily. I have the basic Bumblebee and my son recently just gave him rocket boosters like he used in the Animated cartoon.

I too, don't have too much budget to throw into this line but got some sweet deals when TRU had buy one get one 50% sale. If you can, try to get Ratchet. He is totally awesome.

Still not convinced though... but i might get the basic prime to try out.

I think they're kind of cool; just too expensive. (LEGOs are also outrageously expensive.) If they go on clearance, I'll probably get a few. The basic ones don't interest me, though; only the bigger more complex ones.

They are surprisingly good. I have them all except Sentinel Prime and basic Prime. We like LEGO in this house and were please with the quality of Kre-o. Much better than Mega Blox.

I sold the kreon figures (although I did like them) for almost about what I spent on the sets, so it was like getting all the bricks for about 80% off.

I wasn't sure what to expect. I too started with the little Prime (got him for 20% off too) and love him. I then got Megatron as a gift. I've only built his truck mode so far, but it is AWESOME! It's very big, heavy, and solid and just looks great. I'm probably not going to go wild with this line, but I'd like to get Starscream and maybe one or two more.
Haslab, please make me.

I still don't understand why they don't have better bot modes when they don't transform and you don't have to use all the same pieces from alt mode. I might pick up big Prime (partially for Skywarp) if he gets clearanced down to like $20 otherwise nah.

The Kre-O line is pretty decent, much better than the Built To Rule (Fail) line back in '01.

I am surprised at how decent the Kre-o line is. It is more than just another Lego knock off and they are a bit cheaper too. I got the optimus prime with 500 pieces. it offered a decent challenge and truck mode looks awesome. I can't wait to see what they add to the line.

Uk Toys'r'us have them on buy one, get one half price.

I spent a good 10 minutes deciding if i wanted or or needed them, and decided not to buy.

I like the idea, but none of the figures look that nice once complete, just lego robots, which are nice enough, but just not for me.
I'm also looking for G1 Scattershot - complete with all parts for computron (i've got all the other techno bots, just not got their leader! If you have him and are looking to sell or swap for something please let me know - cheers
