Which is an even worse lie, because why would they need a key to that at all? Why would you need to lock up the power supply of the device you use on a daily basis?

I think you missed my point. It's not security measures because it's not the key to the Ground Bridge's power supply, it's the Key to Vector Sigma. My point is, if you apply a bit of logic, you could have figured out Optimus was lying the moment he told Jack what it was.
Take a good look at Optimus's face between seconds 18:50 ans 18:58 of ep 25. When he is telling Jack that it is the key to the ground bridge power suply he can't even look the human in the eye and his voice is hesitant, but everythig after that he is making straight eye contact and his voice is firm and sure. I guess it shouldn't be a big surprise but Ops can't lie worth beans...
