I wasn't going to get this, but then the really nice quality of the Toyworld not-Throttlebots started swaying me... and then finding out that it's based on the Don Figueroa design (really like his work, and wish Toyworld would make a stealth bomber Megatron in scale with Orion)... but seeing the video of that cool leg transformation, I'm not sure I can resist (though a new head would seal the deal).

Anyone know where this is for sale? Looks to me like it's only Captured Prey, though I mainly us TFSource (BBTS on occasion as well).

I gave in and decided to buy Orion. Not so much because I’m an IDW fan. But I wanted to use my Henkei Prime with Trailerforce set and wanted a new mold to differentiate Prime from God Ginrai. I’m still bummed about how tall they made him though. I wish both Orion and Hegemon were an inch shorter to be more in scale with the rest of the Hasbro figures.

I think this toy needed a romovable face plate. I think the Igear Faith Leader is the better product.

When did IDW Orion Pax find the time to return to earth & scan a new different truck cab vehicle mode? Which also now makes his robot mode look slightly different as a result.

I would love to see Dr. Wu do a middle piece for Orion's chest to make him look more G1. A simple translucent piece with a red post in the middle that slides right in for both modes. I always hated the split chest. Call it IDW, call it TF Prime, but truthfully it's just the spawn of Michael Bay.

This is the body he had at the end of the war while on earth, while he still went by the name of Optimus Prime. He's currently still in that body but calls himself Orion Pax again, the deluxe sized Gnerations toy is based on (one of) his appearance(s) before he became a Prime.

Oh and it's because Don Figueroa didn't want to use the superior EJ Sue design.

I honestly don't mind how the windshield is right now. So they replaced the steel section that typically separates his window-boobs with a glass section. It's not tactically a sound move in combat to lose a critical piece of armour, but for display it doesn't bother me none.

I meant that it doesnt close up in truck mode. In my opinion, the windshield looks horrible.

I can't speak to your experience, but Faith Leader has been the "prime" Prime on my classics shelves for years with no issues.

But I do have multiple incarnations of the character, and this is different enough that it could exist with the others.

Wow I can't believe there is that big a market for a third party Optimus Prime toy. That is the one character you know Has/Tak will always make... kind of interesting.

And they may make another one, but alas the only "Classics" ones we've seen since the original Classics release was the Deluxe version that came with Deluxe tank Megatron, two deluxes based on the Videogames and just recently the Orion Pax version. Maybe there'll be another Voyager-sized Prime coming from HasTak that'll work well in the Classics/Generations styling, but since nothing comparable has come out in the last 8 years, we're kind of impatient on that front.

That's interesting coming from you MKall cause I remember a thread you started somewhere about buying rules? I thought you're not buying third party to replace Hasbro stuff anymore? lol is Orion that good? or you are not replacing classics prime and using this in an IDW shelf?

I held out until about a month after Orion's release, then I relented after a lot of reviews.

But yeah, I broke my rules... I'm a horrible person and should not be a role-model.
