Transformers Pccs, thoughts? Opinions? Which are best?

So, I plan on buying the at least four of the Walmart PCC packs for black friday. Are there any PCCs anyone likes the best, or suggests ass a buy? I know they aren't' the greatest Transformers toys, but I want some advice.

1) Don't be put off by the Drones.
2) Don't be put off by the Drones!
3) Avoid Double Clutch and his Rallybots
The later waves are definitely the better ones, so get them! If you want a list of fav's:
1) Steamhammer & Constructicons
2) Bombshock & Combaticons
3) Crankcase & Destrons

Considering how cheap they're going to be and the fact that you won't have a lot of selection to choose from, (not to mention the crowds you'll be fighting) I'd suggest you just buy whatever you can get your hands on. They're probably only going to have 2 or 3 different sets to choose from.

OK, cool. I was looking at Grimstone, Steamhammer, Bombshock, and maybe crankcase. Thanks for the advice, although I don't mind more.

If anything, only Grimstone with Skyhammer, Steamhammer with Heavytred and possibly Spastic Over-Run with I don't know who will be available on Black Friday. Darn it, why didn't I stay in the US for Grimstone!

I own everybody, so I can tell you true.
Don't buy Double Clutch and the Rallybots.
Get the plane drones, but don't mess with their commander Bomb-burst. Heavytread, Undertow, Skyhammer are the best 2-packs. Searchlight has the best named minicon ever.
5-pack wise, Grimstone is the best set there is. Steamhammer is great, but he requires a bit of force to exit torso mode.

The two packs are all pretty good to at least decent. Steamhammer and the Constructicons are cool. Grimstone is about as crap as the rest of the 5 packs were though. I was extremely disappointed by them. They merely look good.

I feel completely opposite. These are the first Mini-cons I gave a rip about. I never liked the idea of putting a tiny car or other vehicle on a larger body and that powered them up. A weapon, or glowing engine though? That makes much more sense to me. The fact that they were all in pleasing transparent colors (IMO) topped it off for me. Backwind was one of my most desired figures in a long time. The green appealed to me so much. The five packs really didn't do much for me though. That's where they seemed to drop the ball.

Agreed on both counts. Stakeout and Crankcase are somewhat better than the first and third waves' 5-packs, but Grimstone and Steamhammer are the best overall. I will warn you, though, Quality control is eratic as all heck. If you get one that has some problems, return it and try again. Odds are the next one will be fine.

Everyone seems to like the later waves... On the contrary, I find the 1st PCCs is one of the best. That being Huffer and Smolder. Huffer makes a great classics version of himself, and Smolder is fun to mess with.
The last waves were rather good too, some like Undertow, Airhammer, and the tank guy *who's name just slipped my mind*.

I like the PCC Minicons better than the AECU Minicons. because the PCC Minicons have more poseable articulated joints.

Worse: they don't care. Case in point: a toy swap with three tomatoes or a wasps' nest. It *has* happened.

I have Huffer, which works nicely on the Classics shelf. I also bought Icepick, but only for his minicon (I use him as Fracas for Scourge's targetmaster). I like both figures. Their transformations are simplistic, but they are kind of fun.

Are there acceptions to any rule? Yes. The only one I picked up was Heavytread and only because of the upcoming WWII 3rd party combiners. The rest simply suck ass, and that's just the way it is!

It's just that the mini-cons were, to me, in essence were just mini Transformers. And having tons of them.. that really appealed to me. Having tons and tons of PCC-minis, and army-building them doesn't make me jive. Of course I'm not going to argue about your opinion or the semantics of whether they should be called mini-cons or targetmasters, it's just what I prefer.
The colors, sure they match up with the partner that they were given to. But after that, it just goes down south. For example, you can put a team of mini-cons on Armada Megatron and you'd atleast have some sort of symmetry, on the other hand, you plug Backwind, Chopster, and Chainclaw on Grimstone and to me, he looks like a clown.
Tidalwavex wrote:I like the PCC Minicons better than the AECU Minicons. because the PCC Minicons have more poseable articulated joints.
Sure, some of them do, and that's only because PCCs had 9+ years of Transformers technology on them. And when you look at it, they're not much or even better than their predecessors. Molds like Oval, Spiral and Backtrack set the ground for Mini-cons, and Oceanglide, Stormcloud and Waterlog showed that you can have a gimmick and still have a pretty good figure. Given the fact that the majority of them had to in some way combine with each other shows that the mini-cons did pretty damn well for the time that they were in. You think for the time we are in now, that PCC mini-cons would atleast be able to stay in place in their alternate modes, yet they have a pretty hard time doing so.

Re: Transformers Pccs, thoughts? Opinions? Which are best?
I love the idea of miniature robots that turn into tools/weapons for for their larger partners (I'm one of those people who doesn't want to stick a tiny helicopter on a larger car), but I wish they looked more like actual tools or where at least not translucent.
Combining them into little super-robots is fun, though.
I'm disappointed we never got a train PCC. A locomotive Commander + 4 train car drones would've been amazing.
