I grew up with them although I was always more of a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, He-Man, and Superhero kid. Also, I was a fan of Beast Wars and Beast Machines. Although I have collected various lines of action figures throughout my life, I never got into the Transformers toys outside of my childhood. However, I picked up Classics Starscream on a whim, loved him, and have been collecting Transformer toys since then.

Growing up, the cartoon was the best.
I was also into He-man, but the TF cartoon was a lot better.

What's renewed my interest in buying the toys was definitely the 2007 movie.
I first starting buying JUST the G1 Robot Heroes...
But then I decided that I wanted the Classics figures
(unfortunately, I had to go to ebay).
Sure enough, I started picking up Movie figures,
and have bought waaaaaaay more of those than I initially intended.
I also have all of the Movie Robot Heroes now too.

Believe it or not, I've only opened 9 of my 63 figures, and none of my Movie Robot Heroes (I bought 2 of every G1 R.H., so a whole set of those is still unopened as well).
I've realized a big part of me getting into these toys is the fact that growing up
my parents didn't have the money to buy these for me.

G1. loved the show as a kid. but didn't really have that many figures. Heck I had a Gobot Road Ranger standing in for Optimus Prime.
I still have a few left from back then. Mainly Micromaster Erector, and Nautilator from the Seacons.

G2, Bw Bm went by and I didn't buy anything, was older but had no money, and the cartoons didn't appeal to me back then.

But then along came Car Robots / R.I.D. Picked up Fire Convoy and God Magnus after being pushed a bit by a friend of mine and that was it, I've been hooked ever since.

What got me into TFs, eh? The toy-line. I saw Skywarp and Optimus Prime in the window of KayBee Toys when I was 14 and HAD to have them! I did dastardly things I hated to do to get money to buy them....the worst of all being baby-sitting (I LOATHED that job!). I bought Skywarp first and then bought Prime by then ebnd of the summer. I was totally hooked! Within 3 yrs, I had the entire Hasbro TF line in America and I was starting on collecting the Takara ones when the bottom dropped out of the funds-well! So I started unloading them on a biblical scale...I do miss the ones I had to sacrifice from time to time.....

Then, all of a sudden, in the late-winter or early spring of 2007, I started getting back into it again. I had yet to hear that there was a TF movie coming out that July, but soon did hear. By then, I was well back into the hunt for some of my lost joys of late-childhood! TFs just drew me back in like I had never left...and takes all my money the same way as it always had! Good times!

Originally it was the G1 cartoon but I got back into them last year after all the hype for the new movie. I hated the way the movie robots looked but I started looking at the other toy lines and was suitably impressed with Alternators & Classics to buy a few and from there have bought the World's Smallest Dinorobots and the Encore Jazz which is a toy I always wanted as a kid.

Well, I had a few as a child but many of them were sacrificed in college so that I could eat...

However, I've collected Camaros for most of my life (toy and real, though I only have one real one at the moment) and had picked up Classic-Bee for that reason. A friend dragged me to see the movie and that was it - I was hooked. :D

I was given G1 Hound for Christmas many years ago. I was hooked. A few years later I got bored of TFs as the lack of moving parts frustrated me so I stopped.
Beast Wars intrigued me but I was put off by the odd looking robot modes (which I quite like now).
Over a year ago I heard the theme from the '86 movie played in a rock club and decided to get the soundtrack. That made me rewatch the film. That made me buy a Soundwave reissue cos I always wanted him as a kid. Then I discovered Classics and realised they started making the toys that I wanted twenty years ago!

I got into Transformers the very beginning after renting the pilot episodes on VHS from the local Blockbuster store. I rented what I could and eventually found the series on TV. While I was a kid, I had 7 figures. Then disaster struck, which I have told before...right after the 1986 movie was released, the series was taken off the air. Bummer. So that ended my love for Transformers until February 2007. I was doing a project for one of my graduate courses...I was developing a notebook about how movies affect teenagers/adolescents and pre-teens. When I was searching for movies, I found an image of one of movie posters at that time. So, I put the date in my calender so that I remember when it comes out...it brought me back. Then with the figures, I was brought back by purchasing my rare Alt. Bluestreak/Silverstreak (my right-hand steering wheel one). Now my collection has grown from 7 to slightly over 100. My original 7 are in my current collection.

Originally? G1.

But let me be the only person in the thread to say that what got me into them as an adult was...

Transformers Tataki.

Widely regarded as the most abysmal game ever.
Get the hang of it, master the undocumented controls, and it's fun.
I realized that I'd never had that many TFs as a kid, but that as a grown-up, I could have as many as I want.
And now I do.

I was into the G1 cartoon from its first showing on TV, and had a few figures (not all, by any means, but a reasonable amount).

BW and BM didn't appeal to me at all, I didn't get the concept of the toys as I never saw the cartoon and so didn't know the premise.

Just before Christmas 2007, being a little over-excited for the movie, I bought a couple of Star Wars TFs. Since then, I've been building up a fledgeling collection with alternators, movie line figures, classics and a couple of MP line figures :)

I'm now eagerly looking forward to Animated (bring on Prowl and Bulkhead!) as well as Classics 2.0.

Well, originally, I watched the Generation Two cartoon as a kid every morning and LOVED it. Of course, when I was five or so, I got my first ever Transformer (who I still have today), that being blue Grimlock. Such a beautiful figure, that was the only thing I played with that Christmas. (At some unknown time I had also acquired a G2 Brawl as well, but I can't remember having him, and only found him when I was throwing all the garbage in my basement away and I found him in a box of mostly old dolls and baby toys (glad I checked EVERYWHERE.))

Anywho, Transformers were great, but in my day, Power Rangers and Pokemon were the big thing. They were what I had, and they were what everyone else had. I got out of Transformers, but still played with my G2 Grimlock and Brawl, and my older brothers' old G1 Outback (who is no longer with us), Hot Spot, and Motormaster (who STILL doesn't have a head). Also had Shackwave, but he was gotten rid of by my mom :-x )

Fast forward, 1996, Power Rangers were still big, but now Beast Wars was too. Honestly, I never realized that Beast Wars was Transformers (I completely forgot Megatron and Prime, clearly, though I don't know how). But it was a great show, and so was Beast Machines. Power Ranger eventually ended becomin Zeo, then Turbo, then In Space, and so on and so forth, and lost interest, for the most part, when Lightspeed Rescue showed up. But Beast Wars was still going.

When RID came on in '01, I LOVED the cartoon, as I had G2, and made the connection between it and the Beast Era. I never had any of the toys, though I was tempted many times by the Commandos, which I just couldn't afford. (I suppose somewhere in my head I remembered Brawl, because I loved Armorhide.) Then Armada came, and I was in love. I the first Transformers I ever bought on my own was the Land Military Minicon team, and I was so happy to have them.

So yeah, Armada had a large part in making me the Transformer collector I am today, with my 300th figure, a G1 Blitzwing coming shortly in the mail
Latest Acquisition:
#307 - G1 Sparkstalker
#306 - G1 Wide Load
#305 - G1 Erector
#304 - Movie Landmine

I think like a lot of people here it was the G1 cartoon that got me into Transformers, I didn't have ,any of the G1 toys a few Pretenders and combienrs here and there that was it. G2 was where it really began as I got a lot of toys from that line, uncluding complete Constructicon and Aieralbots sets.

Then for a long time I didn't collect anything until RiD I got all of the Spychangers and the Autobot Brothers and Build King, but Aramada didn't get my attention and I stopped collecting until last Spring, since then I've been back into full swing, I think doubling the size of my collection in just a year.

A lot of things came together for me. There was a station I watrched all the time as a kid, WTXF out of Philadelphia. I had watched the first GI Joe miniseries on that station the year before and when the second GI Joe miniseries and the Transformers series came out they heavily advertised them and I just had to see them.

Every day after school I raced home to watch the latest episodes. Shortly after that, my grandfather was in the hospital and my mom bought me my first Transformers com,ic book.

Unlike most other lines, I have a hard time remembering what Transformers figure was my favorite. This is probably because I got a nice load of Autbots for my first holy communion as presents.

I know a lot of the minibots were in that haul, as was Optimus Prime.

I beat my Transformers to death at times and have no idea where most of my original ones got to.

But towards the end of the 90's I started collecting again with the Beast Wars line and never reaklly looked back.
