Which Megatron?
Hey all...I need help deciding. I'm looking into getting a G1 megatron. I'm torn between possibly getting a G1 reissue Megs or a Masterpice Megs. I've weighed the Pros and Cons of each and I'm still torn.
Reissue
Pros...Diecast metal, less fragile, about $40 cheaper than the MP
Cons...isn't very cartoon accurate
Masterpiece
Pros...looks amazing, comes with lots of stuff
Cons...more expensive, fusion cannon tilts it over (so I've read), very fragile, plastic
I guess when it comes down to it's the cartoon accurate look of the MP that has me wondering what to do. Your thoughts?

I personally would get the MP.
Yeah, having a G1 Megs would be cool, but it's just not that cool in bot mode,
and for me, that's REALLY important.
I know the MP is fragile, but are you really going to "play" with it?
Then there's this option:
Do what I'm doing and have Grimlock and Thundercracker be your first/next MP's.
Actually, I'd also consider getting the Henkei version of Classics Megatron.
Now that's a great figure.

Re: Which Megatron?
So your giving advice on a figure you don't have?
whatever.
I have an actual G1 Megatron and yeah, let me tell you the robot mode is way off from show acurate.
However, the alt is dead on, and the transformation is just plain fun. 25yrs old and I still flip him around as if new and returnable
MP Megarton I also have, and I can say, for a figure, He kicks ass...
However as a Transformer,
Just from looking at him, he's flimsy and thin and absolutly no match for MP Prime.
As a display piece, he is fantastic due to detail, but I urge you, look at past threads and posts about this guy. You'll either hear "I'm afraid" or "I transformed him once with no problem"
Key word "ONCE" Now don't make me revisit Johnny Dangeriously agin in this thread you fargin icehole
So basicly it comes down to you. Do you want a figure to handle, if so go with G1/reissue Megatron.
If you want a skinny piece of eye candy ment for display and minimal handeling, MP is for you...
---------------------------------------------------------------
If you can't tell, I fell we got short changed with MP Megatron, after seeing some of the customs out there, I feel a company with Takara's resources could have realy done better.
whatever.

Get the MP Megs. He's a better figure and way more durable than what was reported.

I've transformed MP Megs quite a few times. I worry about breakage but it hasn't happened. He's nothing compared to the other MPs but he's better than G1. MP Meg doesn't have a problem holding his canon up - G1 Megs does. Also, my G1 figure is very difficult to stand up because his knees keep colapsing.

MP Megatron gets maligned unfairly. It's not nearly as bad as people like to say.
As far as which one, I'd be torn. Mp is fantastic, and the G1, there's just nothing like a G1 Megatron. For me it's a toss, don't know which one I could get rid of and be content about the decision.

Re: Which Megatron?
Thanks for all of your knowledgeable replies so far. I have read past threads regarding MP Megs. I plan on transforming the thing more than 2x. I guess right now I'm leaaning toward the G1 reissue due to cost and the fact that it's metal. I don't think G1 is as hidious in robot mode as I have read elsewhere (plus I know the gun barrel can be flipped upwards behind his back to make him more cartoon accurate) but it's certainly not like looking at MP Megs and for that I hope I don't regret not getting MP. Any more opinions are welcomed as I can still be swayed into getting MP.

MP Megs is great IMO. Looks phenomenal and has a very complex, very enjoyable transformation. Yeah, he’s on the fragile side, but not really any more than the MP seekers. And yes, he requires care while transforming. You don’t want to force anything or you probably will end up breaking it…same as with MP Starscream, though. But if you’re careful and take the time to learn his transformation, I don’t think there’s too much concern…I haven’t had any issues. If you enjoy complex transformations like Alternators and the other MPs…to me, this is a must have. Just know you’re looking at it taking about an hour or more the first time through, and even once you have it down you’re looking at a 15 – 20 minutes process.
On the flip side, if you don’t like complex transformations or you have a bit of a history breaking regular figures while transforming them…don’t go anywhere near MP Megs!

Re: Which Megatron?
Well I have both (you should too), but if you could only get one, I guess it depends on your priorities.
Sure, G1 Megatron looks really dorky in robot mode, but he is tons of fun just to play with, with all the accessories, actual firing pellets, and fun, satisfying transformation.
MP Megatron is impressive as all hell to look at, but he's not exactly the most fun to transform. It's a meticulous 10-15 minute process which needs some care. He's also a little top-heavy and thus needs to be posed carefully. Don't get me wrong, I love mine to death, but it's definitely a display piece.
So judging by what you've said so far, go with G1, you won't regret it in the least!

I'd go with G1. More play value and less rust.

I have my original G1 and recently got the MP. If I had to get rid of one I'd be torn but only because it's the original toy I got for xmas as a kid so it means a lot to me. If it wasn't for that I'd easily prefer MP. Which is best: 6 inches or 12 inches?

I used to have a G1 Megs years ago but he disappeared (along with many others including skyfire, wheeljack, optimus, skywarp etc

I'd almost prefer the smaller for display purposes. It really isn't an issue though.

That's what I'm thinking then I look at how sweet the MP looks and I can't make up my mind. I'm still leaning G1 reissue. I can always pick up MP down the raod if need be, but will it still be available?

If you've got MP Prime, get MP Megs. But, in my case, I still don't find Megs that appealing. I do have MP Prime but I'd still go for G1 Megatron. More compact, more fun to Transform, less expensive.

This is a no-brainer.
Get MP Megatron.
Unless you're a die-hard fan of G1 toys.
So when's Grimlock coming out?
