Which movie Ironhide?

I'm looking to get a movie Ironhide. And now that we've seen the DOTM voyager and leader molds, I think we just might have seen all the movieverse Ironhide molds we'll get. For the most part, I'm trying to keep the (relatively few) movie figures I get in scale with each other. That means I'm just looking at the voyager class molds. And unfortunately, each version seems to have its own quirks:
  • Original movie mold: not bad; but apparently quite fiddly (from what I've read). My impression is that the ROTF variations of this mold improve on that a little. Do the front wheels peg in to prop up the fenders in bot mode, or is that new on the ROTF version?
  • ROTF Ironhide: drab gray; not crazy about the huge gun in truck mode.
  • Recon Ironhide: I'm leaning toward this one; but strikes against it are the opaque windshield and a generally underpainted alt mode. And the front bumper is rather silly.
  • DOTM voyager Ironhide: looks like he might be engineered better than the previous voyager mold; but I really don't like that he's smaller. Significantly, he's now quite a bit smaller than voyager Ratchet. He also has the ridiculous gun in truck mode.
So while I guess I'm leaning toward Recon Ironhide, the original movie version is a contender.

I think the Deluxe HFTD Ironhide is the best so far.

Thank you.

I'm now leaning more toward the Premium variant of the original version. I'm hoping to get an answer to my question about the front wheels on this version pegging in before I decide, though.

(But why did they give the Premium version light gray heels and gears in the back of the truck? Did someone at Hasbro think the alt mode looked too nice and thus needed a bit of crap in the back?)

I say go with the original. Transformation is complex but everything works nicely. The only thing I don't like is the too-large guns.

Recon Ironhide does have an awful paint scheme - the lightening bolts and the windscreen are bad. I don't like the head. The transformation is slightly different but gives him a lot of back kibble. The only good things are the smaller arm canons and extra weapons for other guys.

DOTM voyager Ironhide has limited arm mobility due to the wheels. I can't remember what other reasons I have for passing on this figure but if I had to rebuild my collection I'd still go with the original Ironhide.

I think he's too small for funklizard. His upper arms are too short and his body gets in the way of them.

I'm in agreement with most of the people in both topics: 2007 Voyager version. I actually sold off almost all of my movie toys, but he's one of the few I kept. Also those legs are one of the few automorphs I like.

I agree with the majority here.

2007 movie Ironhide is the best, despite his less-than-perfect accuracy. IMO, scale is particularly important when you're talking about hulks like Ironhide. He has to be physically imposing while remaining in relative scale with the rest of the other bots. DOTM Ironhide is undoubtedly better in terms of looks, accuracy and gimmicks, but scale-wise, he's pretty small when posed next to deluxe figs like Battle Blades Bumblebee. When I was watching that review Peaugh made, I actually thought it was a deluxe fig [well the guy has big hands, but still...]

Personally, I think leader class Ironhide is awesome, but he'll look out of place posed with anything other than HA's.

I have the 2007 voyager premium, but I swapped the arm cannons and head from the ROTF version.

That's a very good looking figure; in some respects better looking than the regular Recon Ironhide.

But… It's Blue Ironhide. I want Black Ironhide.

I think I've managed to snag a MISB Premium Ironhide on eBay. In the future I might see if I can get one or more loose figures cheap for part swapping. I'm still partial to Recon Ironhide's head; and if it's possible to replace the light gray foot parts on Premium Ironhide, I might try to do that as well.

When I can, I plan to get the Leader Ironhide. I use HA figures for my movie collectibles so the scale will fit. Now if they'd make a Leader Blackout, maybe Leader or HA Ratchet and Voyager Bonecrusher I'd be set.

Leader Ironhide looks nice (though the leg kibble under the truck bed is a bit disappointing); scale issues aside, he's probably the best movie Ironhide.

I like a lot of the HA figures; I just don't think I could fill out a cast of core characters at the scale of this line. And as much as I'd like to see a Leader Blackout, too, I just don't think it'll happen.
