That's not a Whirl. I used to have one as a kid. Don't remember too much about the line, I think the name had Helijet in it. The rotor blades weren't supposed to be detatchable though, which renders it a junker.

If you are talking about that red thing next to Wierdwolf, that almost looks like Energon Quickstrike. I've never seen that before.

It's definitely NOT Quickstrike. Aside from being mostly red and a helicopter there's really not that much similarity. As I said above I had one of these back in the 80s and Bulkhead/Quickstrike were new moulds a only couple of years back.

Quite aside from that the seller has gone to the trouble of listing the copyright stamp info, and this one's down as Bandai 1985.

If it has a Bandai trademarl stamp then its not a KO.G1 Whirl was not a Takara mold.Hasbro got the wrights to reproduce the figure from one of Takara's competetors just like they did with Jetfire,Shockwave,Roadbuster and the larger Insecticons.

Witch would meens that this figure in the auction was made from the people that originaly owened the mold.

I Have One Of Those Toys, I Don't Know The Name Of It, But It Is A Fairly Cool(If Simple) Rescue Helicopter Transformable. There Is A Switch In Front To Turn The Rotors/Wheels/Walking Action On, And If You Engage Another Switch On The Tail, It Retracts The Winch (It's Manually Pulled Out). It IS Marked Bandai '85 On The Inside Right Leg, But That Is All I Can Tell You About It. I'm Including Some Pix Of It:

Please Disregard The Autobot Stickers I Put On It, I Thought It Would Add A Touch Of Class To The Unit...

BTW, The Original Mold For Whirl Came From The Dougram: Fang Of The Sun Toyline (Same Place That G1 Roadbuster Came From), You Can Find Out More About That Line By Researching It At ToyboxDX (http://www.toyboxDX.com)

Cheers guys, guess thats not a whirl then, kinda wanted him if he were cos it'd look great in robot mode, not bothered too much by it not having rotorblades tho.

on the other subject though would the part metal bots be worth anything now? as a buy and resale?

No it did not. Fang Of The Sun: Dougram had no transforming vehicles at all. Yes, Whirl and Roadbuster came from the same series, but it was Special Armored Battallion Dorvack ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special_Ar ... on_Dorvack )

Valandar Is Correct, It Is Dorvack. The Similarity Of The Names, Combined With Me Sick To The Point Of Hallucinating, I Made A Very Stupid Mistake.

You Can Find Info For Dorvack At ToyboxDX Too, I Looked It Up...Pretty Cool Stuff.
