Alt Wheeljack
Since I had some scrap styrene from my alt Ratchet project, I decided to see if I couldn't make Wheeljack a little more G1. So I fashioned some wings for him and affixed them with styrene tubing. They still have to be painted and detailed but you can get the idea from this pic

hm. do they go anywhere in vehicle mode. I wonder if it would be harder to make the doors into his wings. I guess they're not at the right angle, and it would be difficult to change that.
Yeah, the Alternators do have a lot of features missing as homages of the originals. then again, most of them are supposed to be homages of completely different characters.

I'm wondering if it might be possible to modify the skid plate, or scratch a new one, so they fit under there in vehicle mode. The existing one fits the cryo-sword, which is not exactly an overly Wheeljack weapon anyway, so losing it won't be much of a loss if you're go for a G1 style. And the wings should be even flatter than the sword, so making them fit shouldn't be that much of an issue.
Isn't that Classic Bumblebee's wing thing he's holding? What's the story behind that?

It is actually his engine/weapon, I angled the sides out because to me it doesn't really look like a gun, it looks more like one of his inventions especially with it angled out. Putting the wings on the skid plate is a good idea except that the pegs that hold the wings in place would probably scrape the ground
Ravage to answer your question about the doors, I thought about trying to mod them to make them the wings but in the end it was much simpler to scratch build them out of styrene.
Still haven't painted them yet, any suggestions on color? I was thinking like a light grey or silver.

Oh, green, obviously. If you're making accessories to make him more G1-ish, you should at least make 'em the right colour.
As for the pegs, I'm not quite sure what you're thinking, but I figured the wings would be mounted on the bottom of the skidplate; the pegs would point up and into the car, not down.
And as I said, if you're feeling really adventurous, and you've still got some spare styrene, maybe you could take a crack at modifying the skidplate, or even scratching a new one to match the existing one, but designed to take the wings instead of the sword.
