Guys, now that the figures have been announced, has anyone changed their minds from the Primus Package and is now intending to buy the Protoform package instead?
This year's Primus Package exclusive figures are just so underwhelming for me I guess, and I'd rather save the money and have it to spend in the dealer room.
So I wondered if I'm not alone in this decesion.
Also a question for previous Botcon atendees, is there usually a good chance of scoring some of the previous year's figures there?

The only other downside to the Protoform Package is the lack of admittance to the Saturday night dinner party. Which, let's be honest, you wouldn't really be missing much, although this year's Party and the Paramount may prove better than previous years.
As for buying previous years' exclusives at the con, it's kinda hit and miss. A few may pop up in the dealer room, but be prepared for pretty hefty pricetags. It's also possible to buy or trade with a random fellow fan at the convention, but it may be easier to arrange the deal beforehand and just meet up at the convention. Also, bear in mind, some Sets are more popular than others, some are harder to find. 07 Sets are EXPENSIVE, for example, and last year's SG Set isn't cheap by any means either.

Buying a Protoform package is 8 shades of dumb.
If you don't want the set you can 100% sell it to someone and come out with more money than...
oh nevermind...

Now, now, CP, we all start life as Protoforms.

I went with the Protoform Package my first year attending. Granted, I'll never do it again, but I think of it as a good cheap introduction to BotCon.
If it's a choice between Protoform or not attending, go Protoform. Otherwise, go Primus Package and sell the Boxed Set if you don't like it. If you can.
Think they'll sell well this year? Maybe to unsuspecting Protoforms?

I'm not trying to be mean. It's the truth. There is just about no reason at all to get a Protoform package.
