Botcon or Laptop!?
- Motto: "If my first sacrifice wasn't enough, maybe you would prefer to pay with your funky blood."

Yes, this is another thread that I made when I couldnt make a decision. If you dont know, my Birthday is on June 28th. 1 day after Botcon ends and 6 days after War for Cybertron comes out. And Botcon is being held 6 hours from where I live, which is the closest its ever been since I can remember. Also If you didnt know I like to make videos and movies on Youtube, but I havent been able to make anything because my computer is litterally 2 years younger than me, So, I need a new computer, and I want a laptop, so I can work on my vids while Im not at home. Now, the laptop I want is that $1000 AlienWare laptop. And my birthday is the only day (other than Christmas, but thats too long to wait.) that I can get a laptop. So, I know Botcon registration is up, or will be soon, so what should I do? Go to botcon or get a laptop?
I Am.

I would personally go with the laptop. Botcon sounds awsome (wish I could go
) but nothing can beat the use of a good computer. It will serve you better in the long run.

Oooh, tough call indeed!! Are ya planning on getting the exclusives at botcon? Because they usually only go up in value...except last year's set and the 2005 set. But a laptop will usually always be available. But what is more your passion? For me, I've been needing a new laptop for the past...4-5 years, but I haven't had the need for one because I just use it for internet. So it's TF toys for me. But NEXT YEAR, I'm definitely getting a mac book. Once summer is done, (conventions, vacation, uber bad ass FansProject toys) I'll be able to toss money towards that.

Well, Im trying to finnish a 3 hour stopmotion with my TFs by June 28th of next year, which is already near impossible with a new laptop, but using this piece of crap, its impossible to make that in 5 years. And I want to go to BotCon because I think it would be a great experience for me and its 1 day before June 28th which is my birthday, which I plan to be working on the stopmotion for 1 year exactly, which I cannot start in December, which is the next available time that I can get a $1000 laptop, so...Im stuck between a hard place and a rock and I dont know which one I shoud do, move up the stopmotion date 1 year and dissapoint all the people waiting or get the laptop which would ruin the one chance of my life to go to BotCon and fulfill my destiny. But I think that if I get a laptop, that will contribute more to my destiny than going to BotCon, because once Im old enough to move out of my Parent's house (3 years.) Ill be able to go to BotCon as much as I want, provided I have to money and not afraid to travel long distances alone, unless its like 20 minutes away from where Im living or attending college then. I know this is a freking eyefull to read on the internet, but this is how my short life is all the time. Never strait foward and confusing as ****.

So I guess you'll have to decide once registration goes up huh? Well, the good news is that they have been so late it's given ya a lot of time to really think about it. The bad new is that they have been so late it's given ya a lot of time to really think about it.
Hey, you're birthday is 1 day before mine!!
Botcon has been a self birthday present to myself the the past 3 years. I'm going on year 4 now and I can't think of a better way to spend it. I can give you the pluses of Botcon, and I'm sure you already know the pluses of getting a new laptop.
First and most importantly are the friends you make at Botcon. My first one was because of the toys, but the botcons after that, I go for the people I have met. There is just something about hanging out with a group of people that, well, are very similar. I mean besides being TF fans, we are all kinda sci fi geeks, gamers, comic book readers all in one package. Conversation is NEVER dull and I find it so refreshing to speak to everyone no matter what topic we are on. Two, the toys, yes, the ever exclusive toys that we see on ebay for insane amounts can actually be purchased at it's lowest point with the con set, the convention add-ons, and then you're freebie figure!! I think this year's set will be as good as 2007-2008. Three, the hasbro panel and well, all the panels that you want to see. I looove the hasbro panel. I love that we get a sneak peak at what lies ahead for the brand/franchise before anyone else. Back in the day, you were able to post pics online what was shown, not anymore. Now we get to see all the goodness months before anyone else. Love it. Fourth, the guest voice actors. My first year there I met Peter Cullen. Got him to sign my TFC #00. I cherish that piece in my collection. I also got a pic with him. For me, since I'm a geewunner, was a very important person in my life. If I had a second father figure, it was Cullen's voice and his iteration of Prime. Fifth, the dealer room. I'm pretty much caught up with what I need, at least I say that almost every year, but damnit, you're in the room where plastic crack is oozing out of every crevice and hole. Glorious, glorious plastic crack!! Sixth, and this is new, but we are entering the very first Transformers Hall Of Fame. So for me, I want to be there when these characters will be inducted. I want to be there when Cullen gets inducted. This will be a new special moment for me that I don't think I can really wrap my head around yet.
So maybe I can sway ya to come on out to Botcon, but I totally understand if ya can't make it out because yes, a new laptop will provide you with a completely different path. Not wrong, just different. That sounds more like a career decision and is just as important if not moreso.

Im going to try to do both. If I cant, then Ill just go to BotCon next year. If I cant get a laptop this year, Ill definately go. Its not for sure Im getting a laptop, but either way its a win win for me. No laptop, that means BotCon. If I dont go to BotCon, thats a Laptop

Re: Botcon or Laptop!?
My rational thinking is that you can always save up for a laptop but BotCon is once a year and is worth experience once. And you never know where the next location will be. Last year it was close to me, this year it's on the other side of the country.
