Megatron for the sake of masterpieces is a gun, its his true G1 likeness that people want. they want his true alt mode too, not just something we are willing to settle for.

The Geewuner in me will always want Megatron to have a gun mode but considering how hard it with making a durable asthetically pleasing robot mode, I'm less committed to it.
HasTak has been recently attempting to reconcile the G1 and G2 Megatrons together. That is, a grey tank that changes into a G1 appearing robot form and I wouldn't mind that route for a Masterpiece.

I'd personally rather see Galvatron first to go against Rodimus, but I do agree they need to redo Megatron. More emphasis on a better, cooler-looking, more cartoon-accurate robot mode, even if they have to sacrifice the transformation scheme or have a different alt-mode to achieve that.

There's this illustration that reminds me of the MP-10 (save for the visible wheels of course.)
This is what I imagine a Masterpiece Megatron of comparable quality would look like.

He should transform into a gun. Looking at the beautiful Masterpiece figures to my left, I think Takara can probably pull it off now.

I agree...and remember megatron and galvatron are the same guy... and optimus has fought Galvatron... and rodimus is no more, he is now hot rod only.

Shogo Hasui, the head designer of the new & improved Masterpiece line, posted this photo of RtS Megatron on top of a sketch depicting a cartoon-accurate Megatron head, dated today:

I couldn't quite make sense of the translation Google gave. Except that he referenced Megatron's Japanese voice actor.

It's in memory of Seizo Kato, the Japanese voice actor for Megatron & Galvatron who passed away on the 17th of January.

Your argument is invalid because they've already released Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime

If he's a tank, Megatron. Otherwise Galvatron.

And that is invalid because he was speaking of his own opinion, not fact.
And MP Roddy was horrid, he doesn't exist in my reality.

Megatron, gun, no contest.
I never liked Galvatron, design fiction or otherwise, I just don't find him good in any way... except IDW Galvy, and ONLY because of his giant shoulder things

Except for the fact that with the relaunch into "V2.0" (starting with MP10), Takara has stated that they want to release these ruffly in original toy release order, as in first the 1985 character molds, then 1985 etc. Not withstanding obvious repaints/ remolds.
So before you go and declare an "argument invalid" you should probably go and check up on facts first. Also, what about my post was an "argument"? I simply stated we should finish of the pre-movie guys first and then go and do those, since you know they've been around longer, and the pre-movie rooter is almost complete anyway.
On top of that, Rodimus was released due to the movie anniversary, you might have noticed other movie related stuff coming out back then and most of the Takara promotional material being movie related.
And argument would have been if I argued for one position by citing something, like I just did in this post you're reading now.

Megatron.
Why is everyone assuming he has to be realistically sized? I don't care if that gun is HUGE - just as long as it transforms into a rather sleek robot. Might also point out that the original MP Megs was lacking his stock, which is black - and thick and long enough (no puns) to add that needed bulk to his legs.

There where loads of people who complained about the size of his gun mode. They would complain about it being too unrealistic due to it being too big, while the robot-mode was too small and skinny.
They somehow expected it to be the same size and mass as G1 Megatron in gun-mode, while being taller and having more mass than MP01.

I think if they do a new Megatron, they should compromise on the gun mode a bit to get the bot-mode as perfect as possible.

I've held a Walther-P38. In my own hands. Its not that big - its a pistol, for Primus' sake! You're not gonna get much figure out of something that sized.
Scale here - is irrelevant. Starscream and Soundwave's alt-modes are pretty out of scale with Optimus Prime, so Megatron shouldn't fall into some crazy scale-logic.
On the subject of scale. Galvatron would be tiny if they kept the cannon to scale with Prime.

reding comprehension is not one of your strong points is it?
Read the first part of my post again, take special note of the bolded part, if you still don't understand, ask someone to explain it to you.

People do understand what the MP line is, right? What's with the suggestions to make MP Megatron 2.0 a tank or Cybertronian gun? If TT did something that ridiculous, just give me Galvatron...otherwise Megatron 2.0 is a necessity for the MP line. Galvatron would be a nice to have.
