How would they make a anima acurate Motormaster and Menasor?

Postby shortround » Sat Sep 08, 2007 1:34 pm

With all the talk about combiners lately I have wonder how would they make anima acurate motermaster. I have looked at the gallery of him as well as the g1 cartoon, and I don't think they is a way to make a anima acurate motormaster no matter how hard you try. I could see a number of ways to make the rest of stunticons anima acurate. So what do you guys think is there something I'm missing or would you have to start from scratch, and make him look completely different.

I suppose it would be possible, but you would have to make it MP/supreme size to get enough detailing and articulation for anime accurate. Any smaller, and the original would be the best you can get.

Based on the g1 toy, it doesn't seem to difficult to give him articulated limbs.

You can give him collapsible arms, that fold on to his chest and create the trailer section. The head can easily be made to pop up from the inside of his chest. Including the square head case.

As for the legs, the other half of the trailer can close in to become the lower legs, again with collapsible thighs. and the cab becomes the feet.

Its not to difficult to do, although perhaps having him combine with the Stunticons to become Menasor, could prove to be a challenge.

Course, he'll be a towering monster over all other figures in a given series. I mean the halves of the cab of his alt mode are just his feet [yeah that reads right], the trailer is what made up the majority of his body. MP Prime is just the Truck and he towers over the BT figures which are actually a larger scale than MP Prime.

Motormaster didn't need the other Stunticons to be a beast.

All that said, just like any other figure that's come out in recent years, making a more accurate Motormaster would simply require better engineering and craftsmanship. There's a whole semi trailers worth of space to hide bot parts in. It could certainly be done.

I agree. If they wanted to make him an Ultra sized for Universe, the truck cab that turns into his feet would have to be about the size of Cybertron Armourhide. That way the robot would end up being proportionate.

o.k. you guys have proved that it is possible to make anima accurate Motormaster. But that present the next problem how to have him and his fellow Stunticons combine into anima accurate Menasor. I would love to see how you guys are going to solve that problem. Because I'm sure if this one can be solved then superion is not far off. Because I would love to see both of those done for classics 2.0/universe

That... is going to be a little harder, specifically the feet portion. You need to engineer the feet in such a way that the truck cab folds out of the way, and only big thighs remain to connect to thew limb parts.

Arm connectors, and chest parts, would not be too difficult to produce out of the trailer, lots of space to fold things into there as CyberTooth said.

But the legs, hmmm. besides, we need to consider that all parts must be formed from it. Instead of being add-ons like in G1. where the head, chest piece, and waist where separate accessories.

I think it would be very difficult to actually make an anime accurate Menasor from an Anime accurate Motormaster. Something is going to have to sacrifice some accuracy.

This is where you get into being able to disassemble certain elements of the figure.

Just because they're his feet as Motormaster, doesn't mean they'd be anywhere near his legs as Menasor. Actually, making Menasor would be easier since individual components are more static. Instead of being an entire robot, he's just a torso and at best upper legs.

The other bots making up the arms and legs reduces the amount of Articulation per bot. In truth, the lower legs would just be posts with a joint at the top and bottom, and really the arms would only have to bend at the middle depending on how you designed him. Unless you go the Devastor route and only make them upper arms from the elbow up.

That concept would certainly make the figure more proportionate if you're going to put all five figures in the same scale by means of their alt modes. As I've said before Motormaster would be a brute standing two and half times the size of the other stunticons. Think back to all post Devastor combiners, the leader is massive compared to the others. You start scaling them with other figures of a given line at Motormaster gets outta hand real fast.

Unlike some other gestalt leaders, everyone knows how big a semi truck and trailer are. Same goes for all vehicle types, jets, firetrucks, whatever Computron's middle guy was... At least you can fudge a giant robotic turtle a little.

Superion would be a giant mess to try and tackle. Nothing about that guy makes any sense. Especially when you consider the arm/leg components really didn't "transform" so much as lay down on their stomachs so that the jet strapped to their backs could be seen. Although some guy over at the TFW boards made a great custom Classics Superion outta a Jetfire and a bunch of Starscreams.

I have no idea HOW it would be done, but Im sure it could be done. Afterall, a lo of us (including me) thought a cartoon acurate Megatron was totally impossible, yet MP Megs is at least as acurate as MP Prime.

Chicken legs aside, that is a decent enough arguement.

Menasor could be done. The end of the trailor folds down to form upper legs, which then clamp securely into the legs. And a panel swings open in the trailer to reveal holes that a peg is inserted into that is swung out form the bottom of the arm guys. The entire underside panel of the leg guys pivot out and swing around, clamping onto the front of the cars. The hands may need to be just clipped on or they would interfere with the transformation to robot mode of the arm guys, but I'm sure it could be done.

Motormaster could be done like this, though obviously it would have better engineering. And poseability.
