Okay, so I'm contemplating whether or not to keep this figure. Aside from the terrible light piping. How does the automorph work on most the figures?
Mine works alright from vehicle to bot mode except I need to pull out the front toe. The back toe is never strong enough even though it's used in the instructions.
From bot to vehicle mode it is never strong enough and almost always the gears click and offset and I have to frustratingly try to re-align the gears. Eventually the gears are going to grind to far and stop working.
Is this common with Ironhide?
I remember there's been a similar problem with Blackout, no?

Yeah, mine too. I always pull on the Truck bed part, because the heel part, never actually completes the Automorph.
And going back in, its easier to just fold the panel over and push in the foot. That way the gears don't grind and it closes o.k.

I gave up trying to mess with the automorph. Mine just kept feeling like it would break if I kept trying to use it. Now I just do it all manually. Sure some things snap at me, but it gives me less of a headache now.
My real Problems with Ironhide is the hood in bot mode. I can't get it to do anything except sit vertically next to his head.

??
I don't understand all these problems with Automorph etc...
As for the hood - you CAN extend the hoods (one to the left and one to the right) to fully cover over his upper arms and serve as shoulder pads - however this restricts the arms' poseability, so I go for a mid-way look.

I tried that but I kept seeing stress marks. I've almost given up on trying to figure out how it is supposed to go. I've just remaned him Hoodhead. lol
