First and foremost , these are but musings aimed at the general situation of media outlets (fansites are a form of media right?)being in the tank of vested interests.
Seibertron.com is different, despite being one of the world's largest I can tell that the owners and mods have varying opinions and not cow towing with the "vested" interest . Example on Seibertron's scathing review of the 25th Anniversary Optimus Prime. If you don't call that objective then I don't know what, so no contest.
Anyway we all know that certain media outlets can be bought, sometimes it's due to their political beliefs that they tend to be one track minded sometimes.....plain vested interests.
Would it be dangerous (to put it bluntly) if hypothetically a fansite with a wide ranging reach subconsciously push for a certain toyline, despite it's suckiness (is that a right term?) because of vested interest?
Sure being excited over a certain toyline is great but overzealous defense of the former and you get my drift? Eventually, it is the consumer who will decide on the success or failure of a particular toyline, so no matter how much subliminal(heck sometimes too overt) prompting...."you can't put lipstick on a pig" as Pres. Obama said a few moths ago.
So if you notice a site or group trying to force you or your views to conform to theirs, stand fast by your beliefs and not be with the "in" crowd.

Well, inside perspective here...
-Hasbro doesn't lean on any sites that I know of in order to create positive spin
-The old ugly truth of 'Collectors account for 10...maybe 15% of sales is again true. It's not really worth it for Hasbro to try and convince us of anything. I'm not sure it would be worth the bother, especially when we're so apt to buy their stuff at any rate.

@CP,Hasbro'd only wish to lean on you guys hahaha. Don't take this in a bad way but most American customers really know your rights as a customer, sometimes you push too much (hence this stringent safety laws but I digress) thus your assertiveness more or less scares the bejeezus of the muultinational corporations. That they'll think twice in trying to manipulate the American consumer. Just look at what happened to Xbox360.
Have you notice in the videogaming world for example that despite a product clunker several media "advocates" continued to push for a product until the former eventually went bust?
Certain .....sites, which will remain anonymous, well their "excitement" over a certain product line nearly borders on the suspicious.
Using you as an example, you're not hyped with the "bling" of henkei, me the "bling" doesn't matter but on other subjects, we agree.........get my point? You're not a mindless zombie (I hope hehehe) But once all of the "movers" of the site start chanting the same mantra for a specific product.....get my point?
Hopefully despite such buzz, I hope this site will remain a bastion of fair and balanced advocacy of (well this is a TF focused site)many a future Transformer product.

I haven't noticed any political "push" on this site, which is what makes this a quality site. Everyone on here seems to share their own views and opinions, regardless of how popular or unpopular they are. There are some opinions that seem to be shared by many people here, but that is because our views are our honest opinions. Not because someone says that is what we should beleive.

Re: Objectivity of media outlets, fansites, etc.
I personally hate almost everything I've seen from this new movie line. However, there's a new movie coming out this summer so it only makes sense that movie related news items are a hot thing right now on this site. Despite my disliking the line, I'm glad non-biased sites like Seibertron exist so that I can get a sneak peak at it and promptly turn up my spoiled nose at it. Ah, the joys of fandom!

In a place such as this, you are the perfect prey for a brest animal!

@ CP, don't underestimate the power of the 15% collectors market. We may be a small portion of the market but if we work as one (like a gestahlt) we can work wonders.
