[Spoilers]My Thoughts On The Future of Prime[Spoilers]

Okay for those of you that have heard Transformers Prime has been cancelled and a new series will be getting picked up in 2014 according to the rumors online. Given the title of the upcoming movie Predacons Rising I feel that perhaps its possible we are going to get a series like Beast Machines or a spin off series featuring the Predacons against the Terracons(that was sort of a cliff hanger with BlackArachne).

I only suggest the Predacons as main characters in a spin off because Predaking seems to be somewhat noble and in my opinion he is main character material. Besides I'd like a series with new characters exploring the far reaches of space uncovering secrets of war and facing nightmarish new enemies. No offense but the whole Megatron vs Optimus Prime is over done I think a new series should at least have a new villain if not completely new characters for both sides and more importantly no humans.

It hasn't been cancelled, it's been said from the start that the series would last for 3 seasons and have 65 episodes. What they also said was that should it be successful enough, they would make more after those 65 episodes.
So right now we just have to wait and see what we get in early 2015.

I could see a spinoff series involving the Predacons, but I'd worry if it would be a Beast Wars rehash or something along those lines.

would it really be so bad to have a new beast war -i love the first one-watching it now actually. SO what is so bad about doing a new one -espically since computer generated models now don't cost so much and they can have more than 7 members of each team. also we could see someone who isn't megatron leading which would be nice since that only happens in japanese series it seems.

Actually it might be good to have a new beast wars -we could see more battles and less humans

I suppose you're right and what you say does have merit. It would be interesting if the roles of the Predacons were reversed and they were the good guys. Some Shattered Glass kind of stuff though.

Something that was said at SDCC was that, when they decided to bring in Predacons to TF: Prime, they wanted to avoid going the route of Beast Wars and Beast Machines. So, if that's the last thing they wanted to do, I doubt we'll be seeing anything akin to BW/BM as an upcoming series.

Let's also look at the schedule. TF: Prime's final episode airs this Friday, with its epilogue movie coming out in the Fall. Despite this coming of an end, however, the toyline will be continuing from now all the way into Spring 2014, but to pad out the line until the next big thing, which will likely be TF4. Meanwhile, the Generations toyline is going to continue even further, but since it isn't supported by a cartoon or a movie, it could potentially be overshadowed by TF4 since we now how obvious that is going to be hyped up by the mass media. Though, we do have Rescue Bots season 2 coming in the Winter, but let's face it, that line's cartoon and toyline are so independent of one another that each barely has any bearing on the other, so whether or not that toyline lasts hardly matters at all. And once TF4 comes and likely becomes the face of the franchise for 2014, whatever cartoon to come after won't need to be beast-themed since TF4 will likely have made such an impact that Hasbro would want to go with something all new to keep things fresh and moving forward.

So they are trying to avoid BW/BM route then? That makes me feel a bit better about where they're going with this then. It's nice to hear that the toyline is going to continue as well. That's the thing I like about TF. It doesn't always need new media to survive, it can survive without a cartoon or movie for a little bit.

The cartoons will take a rest while Transformers 4 become the major toyline. I just hope that any show between 4-5 or 5-6 will avoid getting squished. I think the main reason TF Prime was given more time was because it came after the first movie trilogy. So i'm guessing the next show will unfortunately suffer Animated's fate.

The lack of a Beast Wars-style show is dissapointing. Considering most, if not all shows have been G1-inspired (we can argue all day how much, but most if not all TF incarnations lately have used a G1-inspired cast) it would be good to see a Beast Wars-esque show. Damn it, let's face it; we'd all love to see a new incarnation of Waspinator, Tarantulas, Dinobot and Rattrap. Granted, Waspy and Blackarachnia showed up in Animated.

So did Rat[tle]trap and Cheetor, albeit the latter in the comics.

Blackarachnia and Waspy also ran into these fellows in Animated.

Ah yes, the "Unknown Locale".

Which may or may not be the Planet Energoa. ;)
