Attack of the Clones, apart from one awesome scene towards the end, its perfect proof that Lucas needs someone to work with, to either take his story and create a script from it, or to direct for him. Lucas needed someone to challenge some of the decisions and bounce ideas off.

Yeah that's true. However, based on what we have seen, I still prefer him in creative charge when it comes to the main saga. The flip side is, if Lucas was still in charge, would we have gotten Rogue One and The Mandalorian?ZeroWolf wrote:Rodimus Prime wrote:Which of the Star Wars movies is worse in your opinion?ZeroWolf wrote:I'm looking forward to it, but I didn't think Last Jedi was too bad, wasn't the best but not the worst.

Who knows, he may have been persuaded to let them happen (Rouge One I think would have happened as it doesn't contradict anything in the original trilogy)
I do wonder though if he would have butted heads with Harrison Ford who was pushing for Han to die,

I think he would have let it happen, because I doubt Ford would have done it otherwise, even for Lucas. But I'm pretty sure Lucas wouldn't have treated Luke as badly as Rian Johnson (JJ Abrams?) and TLJ did. It's the main reason I dislike the movie so much.ZeroWolf wrote:I do wonder though if he would have butted heads with Harrison Ford who was pushing for Han to die

Yeah Johnson was just directing the story as planned out by Kathleen Kennedy and Abrams

Incorrect. Johnson scrapped Abrams script the moment he was handed it. Didn't even as much as look at it.

Its hard to watch the trailers and not get fired up and excited for the new flick. Then again, that is what trailers do.
The Last Jedi was bad. Just, really, really bad. Worse than the Karin Traviss EU storylines, and the KJA EU books.
But Disney can do it right, as seen in Rouge One and The Mandalorian. So, I guess I'm cautiously optimistic.

Thats odd as Johnson wrote the film himself so why would Abrams have a script to give him? Abrams executive produced last Jedi so had frequent talks with Johnson who set Abrams up perfectly for rise of the skywalker, as stated by Abrams himself. I know many may not like last Jedi but it was the film that lucasarts and Abrams wanted. Though it is sad that episode 9 had to change from what it was supposed to be because of Carrie Fishers passing.

I'm sort of excited to see ROS eventually. Not going opening night, but I will be going in theatres.
TLJ is my least favorite Star wars film, along side Empire Strikes Back. Phantom Menace and Revenge of the sith are my favorites, and rogue one to me is the best all around Star Wars film.

My rough list of favorites:
1) Phantom Menace
2) Revenge of the Sith
3) Return of the Jedi
4) Rogue One
5) The Force Awakens
6) Attack of the Clones
7) A New Hope
Solo
9) The Last Jedi
10) The Empire Strikes Back
Empire was just absolutely boring to me. Nothing really made me want to watch it again, it was the middle chapter with the twist, but it didn't do much for me. Both movies around it were really fun, but empire just didn't strike anything with me.

Re: The Star Wars Thread

To each his/her own, I guess. Whenever I watch the Star Wars movies, I usually watch them in pairs, because the stories seem like that's how they are set up. I watch Empire with Return of the Jedi, Episodes 2 and 3 together (sorry, D-Max, I dislike Phantom Menace so much I don't even have it on DVD), and now I watch Rogue One with New Hope. Until that came out, I watched New Hope by itself, because technically it can be a stand alone movie. And of course I watch Solo by itself as well, but I hope there will be a sequel made down the line, perhaps detailing the story of how Han and Chewie actually got mixed up with Jabba, and ending the movie with them walking into the cantina in Mos Eisley.

My favorites are the prequels, and it's a toss up between Revenge and Phantom. Both are very close to the best for me

Well, I made the decision quite sometime ago not to give Star Wars anymore box office money. Plus, I can’t stand the crowds at theatre’s anymore.
So I read the spoilers from the premiere.
Taken, of course with a grain of salt. I’ll wait till the release date to say anything more, but boy o boy, do I have some thoughts.

I’m not going to say I’ll never see Rise of Skywalker. But I’m for damn sure not seeing it opening day, or even opening week. I am voting with my wallet to not have garbage for Star Wars films. I absolutely adore Rogue One, so far I absolutely adore The Mandalorian, and I liked Solo quite a bit. God willing the Obi-Wan series is good. But I was one of the “dissenters” from the get-go when we learned that JJ would be in charge of TFA. For him to do a couple of standalone Star Trek and Mission Impossible films is one thing, but to tell a full and good story?
Does anyone like the ending to Lost? Or Alias? JJ CANT FINISH THINGS. He can play the long game, but everything has to be this huge mystery, and none of it ever gets answered in a satisfying way. And I’m worried it’ll be the same with Star Wars.
Densh, I too have read the leaks, and I too have some thoughts. I look forward to comparing them once the film releases.

Nemi Max, when I read your words, it's like sweet angels are singing straight into my brain hole.
JJ is a hack. Like bad hip hop movie making. "Why should I make a new story from scratch, when I can just sample others' work to make a story?"
Count me as one of those dissenters.
I like that D-Max likes films the older fans wouldn't like over certain movies. It shows the generational reach of the whole property. Aspects of the prequel stories may be garbage, but at least they were in keeping with the overall mythos of the universe. And really I still find them entertaining. Plus the idea of the Clone Wars is the jam. Probably my favorite Star Wars concept of all. Obi Wan for President!!!
I read some speculated or leaked things about TROS, and I did not like what I read. Hoping it was nothing but speculation.
I am seeing it this Friday, but only because my entire work is going as a group and the boss laid down the cheddar to make it happen.
I am proceeding with the lowest of expectations, and really just expecting to be let down. I am looking forward to spending quality time with my friends, and Dr. Pepper.

Obi Wan is my 2nd favorite character in all of Star Wars, second only to R2. Specifically, I loved him in the prequels and the Clone Wars TV show.
that was my favorite era of Star Wars. I will watch Rise of Skywalker, and I'm hoping it is enjoyable
