Transformers 80.5 Easter Eggs

Postby skyshadowprimus » Sun May 06, 2012 3:32 am

After picking up my copy of the issue and meeting the every charming creative team I thought it would be nice to share the little easter eggs, continuity nods & the like thrown in and maybe see if anyone else picked up on any I missed.

Page 5
Soundwave is purple - Possible nod to the US issues where soundwave was both purple and had a mouth.

Page 6 - The commincube comment, clearly an easter egg and nod to a furmanism and Simon F poking a little fun at himself

Page 6 - Fort Scyk - Last mentioned in the magnificent Six as a dumping ground which seems apt for the Decepticons in this issue.

Page 10 - Nova Point - Last place Prime was seen in Another Time & Place merging the end of the 1990s G1 era nicely with the new 2012 G1 era

Page 14 - Kalis-Baird transmitter - Nice nod to the Flame & the zombie saga, and also educating me as a child about John Logie Baird who was the father of TV and communication (Furman was good for such little education treats back in the 80s)

Page 14 - Sparkstalker telling the others to stand back - Ever so subtle reference to issue 80 (IMO) as it was his colleague Cindersaur who fried him with his flame.

If this is what is in the preview I am looking forward to what other subtle nods will be in the main issue

Weapon: Reciprocating Laser Cannon
Not sure if it is a big easter egg, but the anti-asteroid satellites were a nice touch - since the reason the autobots went into space aboard the Ark in the first place in G1 was to clear the space from asteroids headed for Cybertron (or Cybertron headed for an asteroid belt, depends on point of view)

I hadn't noticed that one but it's that kind of thing that has me really excited. The level of detail in writing this story is worth the price I'll be paying to get each copy. But mind you 21 years is enough time to flesh out the ideas I guess
