Bulkhead looks almost exactly like Mongrol from ABC Warriors (2000AD strip - check it out if you can find it, good stuff). I like him.
Surprised so many people have a hate-on for this kind of animation - especially when people call it cheap and tacky when you remember the incredible amount of screw ups in the G1 animation.. Just try to remember that this new style just compliments the other incarnations of TFs - its not like it's erasing anything.
By the way its called Transformers:Animated because its aimed directly at kids who won't have seen anything but the movie.. so please stop asking why

Studio Mook (a japanese based animation company, which will be doing the bulk of the animation for the new Transformers 'toon), and Cartoon Network studio's have been working together for many, many years. Mook has also worked on many anime programs, like Tenchi Muyo, Blood+, and a few others, aswell. They were even behind much of the animation of one of my favorite shows, Swat Kats.
The show's animation will look fantastic. Teen Titans, is a superbly animated show to begin with, which means all these claims of "animation will suck" are ludicrous. Seriously, stop making unfounded remarks. It's getting pretty ridiculous, as of now.
Here, have an AMV of the Teen Titans.

If teen titans is so goddamned popular, then why did cartoon network cancel it when we could have had a sixth season? Why the hell do we have this crap "stylized" hellboy when upon seeing the amazing screw on head we **** ourselves and ask "why"? Why are all of the art schools pushing this crap just cause it worked on one show?
Call me a G1 purist, but the animation level and design of the G1 cartoon is far superior to this. The animation style for G1 may not work for teen titans, but it works for transformers. This is not to say however, that I expect everything to be G1, but I would at least expect it to be an innovative improvement, rather than a drawback to the looney toons era, which is probably insulting the looney toons seeing as how they had a more sophisticated style than this crap. Computer animation is lifeless, which is why I never liked beast wars.
Some of you have expressed a distaste for anime, The sad fact is that transformers are firstly japanese, giant robots and secondly have almost always been anime especially in G1's case. If you want me to forget G1 and quit living in the past, then you are going to have to come up with a future that doesn't suck for me to hang on to.
In my opinion hasbro should be going towards a more sophisticated anime look, somewhere in the vein of gundam wing or macross for the transformers, but maybe that is what pat lee was trying to express in his artwork.
At any rate, toys that look like this and transform seem to me like an engineering nightmare, optimus primes arms look like flan and I can't see why hasbro ever wanted to try it. so it seems to me, hopefully, that these toys must take somewhat more of a realistic approach. I can't see these LCD nightmares fitting in very well in an over all collection of transformers, and that's somthing I can't say about too many lines. G1, cybertron, and hell even the movie line all look good together co-existing on my shelf, but these things will stick out like a sore thumb even if I am somehow tricked into buying them and displaying them with the others.

Are you kidding? The G1 animation was sloppy, with a capital slop. Don't get me wrong, I love it for what it is, but when you actually watch it, there are countless screw ups. The character model sheets were only used as an option (I thought Devastator changed appearance from episode - then I watched some the other day and saw three designs within a single ep), the transformations were often involved more shapeshifting than moving parts (prime example, watch Punch turn into Counterpunch in Rebirth), and I lost track how often Soundwave joined the Autobots for a scene. Then there's the rest of the iceberg...

Are you daft or something?? Teen Titans was completely cutsie Anime.. and had Giant Eyes/mouths and those weird Tear marks near the head when someone was confused.. Nobody here in America knows what the hell thats all about...Can you really see a transformer with big buldging eyes, and tear drops around his head.. its gonna suck!!!
I'll give you that Teen Titans had some fluid animation... but again, trying to make your intelligence more than it is, you failed to see that the complaints are not about the actual animation itself, but rather the ART STYLE and format that is being used!!!!
Do you really think that Teen Titans would be a good format to place Giant robots?? Super hero Genre is for Super Heroes.. The Transformers are supposed ot be on a level all their own!!! Its like taking the Transformers and making them into SD (Super Deformed) Gundam!! You saw how long that cartoon lasted here in "America"..
The Japanese have gundam, We have Transformers...we share, but we need to be looking seriously at Transformers as Gundam does.. the live action movie will do that, but I still think an Anime Like Gundam or CGI like Beast Wars, for a Generation One Direct to DVD series would be awesome!! Not a continuiation of the original series, rather an updated version of all the G-1 bots in CGI or superior animation..
And while I'm at it, your not the end all be all Guru of Animation, so lay off telling everyone else what to do or Think..!! This is America as you so prominently pointed out in your earlier posts, and if you really understand that, then you must understand that this cartoon, though aimed at childern, offends many a Transfan..regardless of how much you would like to see it succeed!!
I make more sense then you do, and I wager most people here don't like your idiotic comments that much..

skywarp 2, are these guesses or do you have some inside info on these toys?
Just guessing thats all... they look so similar to toys designs that have comeout before.. don't you guys see it??
skywarp2, well of course there is a theme going on, boxy bots and vehicles but thats TF all over. Prime is a truck cab type vehicle (albeit with a watercannon/gun on top) but so have most primes and theres dozens of versions of him. id be totally suprised if these are repaints, there is zero reason to assume they will be.
uhhh sorry dude, but i wasn't being general about the designs.. if you look at prime he has the same form design as GALAXY CONVOY.. I JUST THINK IT WILL BE A RE-MOLDED LESS DETAILED VERSION.. Admittedly this is all Wikipedia, so correct me if I'm wrong:
Marvel, specifically Jim Shooter and Denny O'Neil, did the original storyline and characterization used in the comics (which came first) and adapted/dumbed-down by Sunbow. Sunbow was an American production company related to Marvel only through a license-in-common. The actual G1 animation was done by Toei, a Japanese studio, and AKOM, a South Korean studio.
Basically, TF:Animated is being produced in almost exactly the same fashion, only with Cartoon Network in place of Sunbow, a different (equally qualified) Japanese studio in place of Toei and AKOM, and different writing. Seriously, there's almost no difference in the methods if you cut through all the press-speak.
All these complaints still boil down to people not liking the art style or not and stressing over the "superhero" comments. There's plenty of audience for the look. The writing will make-or-break the show.

Personally, I have NO faith in either the Art style or the Story..but thats just me.. the toy line??? well we shall see if they carry this idiotic and ridiculous Anime style over to the toy line.. but I'm telling you guys right now.. i really don't see this series becoming a hit at all...

come on skywarp2, ok, so theres some similariy between animation prime and GF prime BUT if you then look at classics prime cab from the front there isnt really any significant difference there either, so maybe hes going to be a repaint of classics prime with a gun atop instead of the windvane.

Cartoon and Hasbro execs said the new series, "Transformers Animated," will be significantly different than the others, adding humor, never-before-seen characters and a new premise in which the Autobots fight evil humans in Superhero fashion much more frequently than they battle the Decepticons -- the traditional "Transformers" lore since the property launched as a toy in 1984.
"We've used the basic Transformers and characters as a springboard, but then we're pretty much reimagining the whole thing," said Bob Higgins, senior vp programming and development at Cartoon Network. "What we're doing with it is basically turning it into a superheroes story. We're really excited that we're able to take this decades-old property and hopefully turn it into something that kids haven't seen or expected from a Transformers series before."
Fighting more against evil humans and less against Decepticons and re-imagining the whole thing = FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL
This will be one line that I will NOT purchase anything from. My wallet thanks you Hasbro!

I see what you mean the only reason i still stick with my assumption is because Classics prime is a Semi Truck and Galaxy Force prime is a Space Age fire truck.. this new animated Prime is also a fire truck.. i never said it was an exact duplicate, it just mirrors the body style alot, and I have fear th new toy will be a remolded version of this Galaxy prime..

I make more sense then you do, and I wager most people here don't like your idiotic comments that much..Viral wrote:Here, have an AMV of the Teen Titans.
I'd rather watch Beast Wars on Youtube:

It's not a question of faith. Shows in that art style have been highly successful in the past and still are now. Look at Ben 10 and the oft-mentioned Teen Titans. There's no question that the art style is a popular and successful one. I agree there's a question as to whether or not TF can translate well in that style. But that's not a question kids will ask. They'll just see something that looks like other shows they already like. As for the story, it comes down to your opinion of Beast Machines and how much credit/blame for that you assign Mr. Isenburg.
For the toys -- seriously -- why would Hasbro stop original production at a time when mainstream interest is about to hit a new high? Prime is very similar to his Cybertron/GF counterpart, and I could see an Arcee redeco for Prowl maybe, but none of the rest of the bot modes have look-alikes that close. Besides, even if they redecoed Prime's cab/body, they'd at least have to pack it with a new "trailer" part or kids are gonna wonder why the cartoon version only has the one ladder/gun/whatever.
