Transformers are HOT!

Postby Sportimus Prime » Sun Jul 29, 2007 3:37 am

I just got back from the SDCC, and I have to say, Transformers were big sellers. I tried several times to get to Hasbro Toy Shop booth, and no success. Just too many people. They closed down early on Wednesday because the crowd around them was too great. The rest of the days, they were handing out tickets in order to buy something from them. I just have to say "go to hell scalpers" for buying up as many exclusives they could get their hands on over there. Seems to be getting worse and worse every year. Needless to say, no Titanium Hot Rod repaint, and no Alternator Hot Rod either in my possession right now. I am GLAD that I pre-ordered the Alt Hot Rod through BBTS when I did.

Scalpers are the inevitable result of a hot market. Its like flipping houses. Unfortunately anything that goes up does come down. If they two TF movie sequels to come tank like what happened to a certain extent with Star Wars you will see the marketplace soften and cool.

Longs for the days of G1 where we only had to worry about Megatron, Soundwave and Laserbeak wanting to be Autobots, Swoop calling himself Tracks and Slingshot calling himself Slingslot!

They still made heapings of money, more than the Original SW movies did. The merchandising went soaring with the birth of the new SW movies. They didn't tank whatsoever.

The SW movies didn't tank, but the toys didn't fly off the shelves like TF's are doing right now. As far as Hasbro is concerned, SW cost them a lot of money and a hot selling TF sequel probably has them salivating.
