Transformers Reintroduced in 09?
Obviously Hasbro just reintroduced the G.I. Joe line for the 25th anniversary and I think there are plans to do this for the whole line of G.I. Joes. I was thinking that would be a great idea to do this for Transformers in 09, which will be the 25th anniversary( I think ). Same characters, but in new and better molds closer to the cartoons! What are the forums thoughts on this idea? Would anyone like to see this? Do you think it's likely/unlikely? Thoughts and opinions welcome.

I'm pretty sure that's what Classics (and the upcomming Universe) line is supposed to be. I won't be surprised if they just tag all of the releases that year with a 25th Anniversary sticker and, maybe, release a few reissues.

Ah but the main difference I see between GI Joe 25th and Transformers classics (aside from gi joe being way more faithful to the old cartoon/toy and classics being a more modernized interpretation) is the use of the original packaging for new toys. When I see a boxed Optimus Prime with a new toy but the same great classic packaging, it'll be a glorious day.

Haha. Yeah, the Classics line. I totally forgot. I guess I just don't see the Classics line as a real reintroduction. I dont get a nostalgic feeling when I see the toys from that line. Thats a feature I would appreciate: something more faithful to the cartoon/g1 toy line. Just my opinion. Sorry if the forum thinks this is a useless topic.

I don't think it's useless at all. At the very least, we can discuss what we'd most like to see for the 25th anniversary. Please allow me to shift the conversation in that direction....NOW!

i think it's a nice idea, like you said, make em like the G.I. Joe 25th anniversary, old school packaging with OG figures but the figures got better articulation etc without losing the look of the original

Yeah, great idea, let's have them re-introduce the same characters they've been using for 20 years, only with new molds... you know, kind of like they HAVE been doing for over 20 years!
With the amount of Starscreams, Hot Rods/Rodimus, Ultra Magnuses (Ultra Magni?), Thundercrackers, Skywarps, Grimlocks, Jetfires, Prowls, Swindles I've had to put up with in recent years... it's like we're having a 25th anniversary every friggin' day.
Really now, what could they do for a 25th anniversary line... make another Rodimus toy? Wow, they've never done THAT before...

I agree with Skowl. They've been doing that for years now. In every mainstream line, in sub lines like Alternators and Classics, and in minor lines like the Titnaium Lines Rodumes and Ultramagnus anybody?
But for a 25th anniversary they could try to re-issue more of the 80's toys.
They could even add a collectors item tag, and be able to forgo the child safety laws, since they aren't aimed at children, but of course Hasbro wont do it.
Takara on the other hand is doing what they always do, and releasing their Encore line ahead of the 25th anniversary. so you can get those instead.
But then again, releasing most of the 80's toys brngs us back to the mold issues: which ones work, which ones need to be rebuilt, and whch ones actually are going to produce revenue so that its cost effective to fix, or recreate the mould.

Star Wars ran out of new toys to make years ago. They're down to Leia Starkiller and Dark Woman(?) now. Why the hell else would the prequels be made? Because Lucas had 20 years and was writting page for the script the night before shooting them. If Hasbro's going to do anything for the 25 Anniversery, they'll reissue the Classics figures. It'll be 2-3 years later in a "25th Collectors Item" box. No remolds. Same arm kibble. Maybe new paint jobs. That's it. And we'll have a new movie coming out that'll steamroll them off the shelves early again and we'll all bitch and moan but buy the movie toys as early as possible once again.
The only bright spot is they may take a que from the Beast Wars 10th figures and have a build-a-figure with them. Nontransforming, of course. Maybe Nightbird or Autobot X. Or a Quintesson! 2 body pieces with Op and Megs and everyone else gets a face each! How cool would that be?

I guess it would be too much to think that the Takara/Tomy
Encore line would be put out as a Hasbro 25th Anni. line.

Well nostalgia is nice but rather than see the same bricks released I do like the modern take on classic favorites in the old Classics line and soon to be Universe line. Get the same characters we like but with updated toys to reflect new design ideas. Would be cool to see the red strip power stats gimic back on the boxes but its so minor I really don't care.
The 25th GI Joe stuff does look neat and I may have to pick some up since they look much better, but the direction transformers is going is already beyond that. Honestly I think Hasbro took the success ques from our fandom to bring something to Joe fans. About time too.
