Transformers War for Cybertron: Siege Discussion Thread
Re: Transformers War for Cybertron: Siege Discussion Thread
Sorry for the late reply, yea, I keep alot of my old weapons.
The Netflix version is SO worth it. Even if you have the original siege. I mixed some of the old with the new.
Netflix Megatron is sexy too

Unless you are holding out for a true g1 trailer which can function (hold cars, open rear doors and lower access ramp) he's worth picking up.
The third party leg replacements solve the front cab mess and the height issues tho I still prefer the size of cw ultramagnus.I would have liked some flat surfaces on siege version so that he could have faction symbols where they should be but I've not been tempted to file anything down and damage the figure for them.

I bought him last week for full prince. He's actually been pretty rare in my area so I doubt I'll see the clearance price anytime soon. I think I still have the receipt though, so If I do find him I'll pick him up and return him with the previous receipt.
I wanted a second Ultra Magnus just to show off the small robot form, so I was able to do that with the NetFlix version. I like the little robot mode.
I do think they didn't need to waste the money on the Playdoh in the package though. Shouldn't just given us more energon cubes or Blast effects.
I really want to see them release a pack of blast effects, even if it's just part of the selects line.

I just don't care for any of this Netflix exclusive stuff. It's slight redecos of figures we just got off the shelves. So instead of the new Earthrise figures, we have Walmarts clogged with this stuff.

Perfectly said. I wanted to say something, but I just felt that person wanted to make himself believe what he quoted. They are far more then repaints.

I have to agree here... And then you got Scrapface who's absolutely stunning (if short packed) and Hotlink. I'll probably cave and open up the Netflix ones and compare to my originals. The paint work on all of them should be appreciated... but I also understand the frustration of "but we just got these". As for Netflix vs Earthrise... they *shouldn't* be competing for shelf space @ Walmart (we'll see how that shakes out though).
Also... it seems like both Siege and Earthrise have both gotten off into the weeds lately (forum wise).
Also... did we have much talk of the Japanese Exclusive Nemesis Prime repaint from Siege Optimus (trying to get things back on track)? I managed to snag him from TFSource. Was... surprised that he came in "regular" packaging.

Honestly, the most frustrating thing for me is that Netflix Megatron is so much better than Siege Megatron because of paint, as well as accesories. If I'd known that we'd get this, I would have waited to get this version. If it goes on sale, I still might, but it's still a tad frustrating. Though, I would have thought the point of making a cartoon for Siege was to sell the original figures, not repaints of those figures. But hey, at least Scrapface, Mirage, and Hotlink got cool looking figures, so there's that

Yes the netflix version Megatron is SOOOO much better because of the paint and its so sweet... and honestly, I don't understand people's gripes about these redecos. I mean, no ones telling you to buy every version, i like the fact that there are so many options.

The main issue people have with them is that most of them are barely-changed versions of figures that were just on the toy shelves a few months ago that are now taking up much of the space that could instead be taken by the all new figures from Earthrise, which for many are currently harder to find at Walmarts than the Netflix figures.G1OptimusPAX wrote:Yes the netflix version Megatron is SOOOO much better because of the paint and its so sweet... and honestly, I don't understand people's gripes about these redecos. That is exactly what I mean, without those extra figures taking up space i would NEVER be able to find any figures. Let me tell you what I mean... im in my early 40's, I dont have time to stay out in front of stores waiting for the doors to open to get first crack at the shelves being stocked... sometimes those same figures that take up space, the new shipment will be in the back and I will have a rep (from the store) scan the price label and if there are more numbers of figures then on the floor, then I have the rep go to the back stock room and they bring the stock out for me to see and majority of the time, they are what I'm looking for.
I bought cliff jumper, wheel jack, hoist and iron works right from the inventory box at the Sametime on the same day at around 4pm. So what I'm saying is, I am glad we have all of these variations because if we didn't, there would be MAD collectors buying multiples of the same figure and sale them for high prices online... and I usually only order online for hard to track down figures and 3rd party. So thank GOD for these variations. They DEFINITELY work out for me.

Don't get me wrong, I know I'm in the minority here because even though I'm not buying the redecos, I like that they exist. It's just Megatron's being so much better than his standard release just because of a couple minor things that frustrates me a bit

I actually agree with the OP on this one. I'd much rather have had 2 more waves of new unique Earthrise, than a bunch of redecos of stuff already released, no matter how nice they are. Yes I did get a couple of them, but they were all new to me ( didn't purchase original siege versions), but again, I'd much rather have more new product.

So what's the consensus on the Netflix figures? Have they already come and gone in most places? I haven't seen any on the shelves in my area.
Looking for the Megatron gun (or just the stock) that came with 20th anniversary MP Optimus Prime.

I dont think any of that's related. You'll get these redecos and more earthrise figures. One isnt replacing the other. And its not like Walmart is behind on figures from other lines either.

Problem is, this wasn;t some fly by night plan, they have to support the show - so it makes sense they'd have something on shelves. I wish the "normal" line was used to support the show, but they caught lighting in a bottle and did what they did.
I got all the deluxes, but I've not opened any of them. I have them all already.I got Megatron, and gave the original to my son. And I agree with the guy who said no one says you gotta buy them. It's the company's job to sell toys, but it's our job to police what we buy, hard as that is sometimes.

At least they did some sort of repaint for the Netflix figures. Hasbro could have rereleased the very same figure, paint and all, with the Teletraan 1 pieces and there would have been plenty of people who would have bought them just for the piece of cardboard (he said as he looked in the mirror).sol magnus wrote:o.supreme wrote:cruizerdave wrote:I just don't care for any of this Netflix exclusive stuff. But resources had to be dedicated, and yes Walmarts in my area have no Earthrise, while they do have plenty of Netflix. It's literally the snake eating itself. A toyline is being released to support a cartoon, based in a toyline from last year.
I think Hasbro did this just to avoid criticism of releasing a cartoon who's toyline had already ended a la Combiner Wars. Sure they did a pretty good job. But imagine if in the summer of 2016, the first wave of TR was extremely scarce, and the market was flooded with New CW repaints to promote the show.

To be fair... if they'd been Superior or Menasor… that would have been very welcome... those Wave 1/2 combiners were scarce after that first year.

See i prefer the hunt, mixed with pre-order... somethings aren't worth the wait and arent worth taking chances or being cheap. It depends on the toy. I wanted ultra magnus netflix edition, so I bought it off of ebay for $74. Did I pay too much? Yes, but I have not seen him in ANY walmart and I bought him a month ago and I'm glad I made that choice... megatron on the other hand, I wasn't looking for him, but went to another Walmart far from my home and came across an isle netflix transformers display with all of the netflix TF toys and when i saw Megatron up close, I fell head over heels for this figure just the paint alone, but there were no ultra magnus at all. Not even a place or price tag for him. Everyone's experience and choices are all different, but no ones is better then the other.
Whatever gets the job done at the end of the day
