Voiceing new and old characters

Postby Saber Prime » Tue Apr 07, 2009 2:24 am

Transformers Animated has broght back many of the older voice actors who haven't been heard sence G1. The interesting thing is they're playing both their original parts and parts of characters that were original voiced by completly different people. For example Cory Burton who was the original and the current Shockwave but this is his first time voiceing Megatron.

Given this trend in Animated and yes I had this topic up before the flood I think but I'm restarting it. Anyway I was wondering what voice actors would you like to return to Transformers. What characters do you want them to voice again and what characters do you want them to voice that were originally done by someone else.

For the first part, getting someone to reprise a role they've allready done, the answer should be easy. What are some of your fav. characters and voice actors?

The second part is the hard one. It's a little hard to judge how good a voice actor would do for a role they've never played before but think of it this way. Think of a character you may of liked but maybe you didn't like the way that character sounded so you take a voice actor you like and stick him or her into that role.

For me, I'd really like to hear Jim Byrnes voice Thrust again the same way he did Beast Machines. And allthough I really like G1 Tracks I never liked Michael McConnohie's voice for him so maybe Jim could do Tracks as well.

Going off my signature I think...

Dan Gilvezan should voice Hot Spot, Rollbar, Skids, and Snapdragon again.

As for new characters, I think he could do a decent Cheetor and maybe even play Megatron.

Mark Ryan should voice Ironhide and Hoist again. (he only did their voices for the video game and shockingly didn't even voice Bumblebee who he did in the movie.)

For new characters, Optimus Prime and Ratchet.

Bumper Robinson should voice Bumblebee, Blitzwing, Blackout, and Wasp again. (He was technically still playing Bumblebee but Wasp switched places with him.)

For his new characters, Bombshell and Starscream

I just think it'd be interesting to do a Transformers series with just thoughs 3 guys so I thought I'd give the parts of Optimus and Megatron to the ones I thought would do the best job in that role.

2 more voice actors just for the hell of it.

Michael Donovan repriseing as Dirt Boss and playing as a new Optimus Prime.

Mark Acheson repriseing as Crumplezone and playing as a new Megatron.

Well my views on some VA arnt as much reprising there old characters but also playing new ones too.

Before Animated draws the final curtain I think these voices should definetly be filled in.

Peter Cullen as Alpha Trion

Corey Burton as Brawn

David Carridine as Dai Atlas

Tim Curry as Cyclonus

At the moment thats pretty much it due to the lack of new characters appearing at the moment.

That would be Scott McNeil and Waspinator is the worst character he's ever voiced. I like all his characters except for Waspinator.

BTW Tom Kenny's version actully tends to sound more like Sponge Bob than Starscream does. Hell Starscream doesn't sound anything like Sponge Bob but Wasp sounds like Bob talking into a tin can.
