Has anyone figured out the significance of the time and date on the display?

Hmm. Some sort of release date?? I dunno.
It's too bad it doesn't actually tell time. That would be pretty awesome if it did. I seem to recall an actual transforming watch back in the late 80s/early 90s. I don't think it was actually a Transformers product, but my 6-8 year old mind thought it was really cool. Does anyone know anything about this?
By the way, awesome sig, gogleman.

And apparently, they actually are made by Takara, which almost makes them Transformers!
Hasbro should've re-released them for the movie, I totally would've bought one.
It's too bad it doesn't actually tell time. That would be pretty awesome if it did. I seem to recall an actual transforming watch back in the late 80s/early 90s.
