What Does the "Cron" Mean In Unicron?

There is more to Transformers than movies, cartoons, comics and toys. Discuss anything else Transformers here.

Budiansky did a great job with naming many of the characters, not just going the lazy way of naming all of them after a personality trait, or colour or something.

Some of the names are clever plays on words, others are word associations.

Budiansky may have written some of the lamest Transformers stories (as well as some of the best), but his best work was in naming and characterising the Transformers.

Kup (short for Pickup)

Grimlock (Grim meaning fierce/savage, lock referring pos. to a combat move, ie a headlock)

Abominus (from Abominable)

Cyclonus (from Cyclone)

etc., etc.

Always wondered about Kup's name. Thanks for that inside.

Optimus just doesn't mean great, it means one of the best. Noble, and sort of an aristocrat.
