Your favourite DVD special editions?

Well if you're like me you like DVDs and love Special editions. I usually try to get the special edition of a DVd whenever possible, you might think this turns out to be expensive but I only buy DVDs to movies I like.

Now the greatest and coolest DVD special edition set I got was the Hulk, the first movie the one that sucked.
Back then there where 3 different DVDs to get, the Single edition, the special with an extra disc containing more extra content than the single disc and then there was the collector's edition.
The collector's edition was the 2 disc version in a strong plastic case resembling a reinforced vault door with the Hulk's fist smashing trough. In the case was not just the 2 disc version, but also a 3rd disc, a reprint of Hulk #1, high grade prints of screen boards (mine are of the dog fight scene), another story board in comic form illustrated by 4 comic artists and production notes.

And for just 10 euros more than the single disc version this was a great value.

A picture of the set, this isn't mine but one I found at amazon.

Do you have a set you're kinda proud of?

Even though I most often buy special editions over regular editions I don't usually watch any of the extras. I do own this though, which is nice to display.

Weapon: Double Barreled Multi-Purpose Launcher
-Aliens
-The Abyss
-Halloween
-Escape from NY
-The Thing

Hands down Carpenter commentary tracks are like a film school course. And the tracks with Russell are even better, while Carpenter schools you, Russell tells great on set stories.

And the extened additions of Aliens and The Abyss are completely differant films, nit to say their not great flicks to begin with, this just makes them better.

Alien 3 while the film itself isn't as great as others the original cut is much better than what made it to screen.

I also usually go for the Special Editions.

My favorite Special Edition I guess was the first Spider-Man Movie collectors Edition DVD Box Set.

This one:
http://www.amazon.com/Spider-Man-Limite ... B00006G8G4

# Spider-Man widescreen 2-disc DVD
# Stan Lee's Mutants, Monsters & Marvels DVD
# Collectible reprint of Amazing Fantasy #15, which introduced the Spider-Man character
# Collectible senitype featuring a film cel from the movie personally selected by the director with this comments
# Limited edition off-set lithograph reproduction by John Romita Sr. and John Romita Jr. (Spider-Man artists)

Its also very cool, because I can fit all 3 Spider-Man Movies inside the box.

I also like the Target Exclusives for Iron-Man and The Dark Knight. With the IM Helmet / Cowl DVD cases.

Well, I loved the steelbook cover of the first Bayformers - the one with the metal Decepticon/Autobot logo - I have the steelbook of the RotF too, but it is not nearly as awesome as the first ones.

I also have the Ironman helmet-case, although I only bought it when its price was cut in half, still, it is awesome.

The Wicker Man Limited edition which came in a wood box and was a two disc set with the theatrical version and extended version, it also came with a documentary which tells the story of the film, and how the extended cut came survived and what happened to the orginal negative.

Citizen Kane a great movie with 2 great commentaries and 2 hour award winning documentary The Battle Over Citizen Kane detailing the rise and fall of both Hearst and Wells.

Spartacus The Criterion Collection edition with a reading of screenwriter Dalton Trumbo's scene-by-scene analysis of the film (which alone is worth the price of the DVD), cast commentary, orginal interviews with actors, trailers, comic book, and more.

Blade Runner 4 disc set. You get 4 versions of the film (theatrical, international, the Director's Cut, and the Final Cut), with 2 commentary tracks on the Final Cut, introductions on versions by director Ridley Scott, trailers, several featuretts, and the 3 hour documentary Dangerous Days: The Making of Blade Runner.
