I hav'nt, and should. But if they view these sites, this must be one of the biggest money makers that is just sat around and no one doing anything about them, RID prime is coming up to nearly 10 years old, and I would like to celebrate (The Best Prime Fig Ever!) with a new set of tyres in case his old ones do fall apart.
Any sieb members wanna start their own company, heres you product!, Preferbaly I would buy mine from Fansproject or Igear, and then through BBTS or Kapow, so its win-win for us all, I just dont understand why no has started doing this?

Hmm, maybe one could make a half decent mold from an actual Transformer tire and then cast their own rubber tire replacements?

Even if they do make a replacement for tires, unless they use other types of materials, it'll break again in the near future. I'd just keep those tires out of direct sunlight and too dry or too moist areas.

Will it necessarily break down in the near future? It seems like particular figures are more prone to tire issues like RiD OP. Some people say that their Transformers rubber tires from 20 years ago are fine and they never really paid much attention to taking special care of the tires.
I was under the impression that along with keeping good care, a significant factor in rubber tire degradation involves the composition of the formula used for the rubber. It seems like some figures with rubber tires simply hold up better than others in a "normal" environment. If that's the case then maybe a "better" rubber formula could be used for tire replacements. It won't be indestructible but it won't require so much extra care.

Well, those are the tactics I've always used for model cars and TFs.

It's not something that I wouldn't mind for my fellow fans, but it's not realistic. It's like Microsoft issuing replaceable control sticks for 360 controllers, it's just not something that's truly in demand, or atleast once released, not something that I'd see everyone gunning for.

I don't really see the problem with this. While it does confuse the collector's market ... I just can't care enough about that.

Very cool site! This is the kind of resource that would be great for people who need to replace parts. Otherwise, people would have to do a lot of hunting around at local shops for loose parts or old figures to scavenge or hunt on eBay for parts, which sometimes can be very expensive.

There was a company that made replacement parts to order but then it stopped cos the guy got ill but then I heard (on these forums) that he was back. I can't remember any more than that.
It would be possible to make your own tyres but I think it'd be more trouble than it's worth. Best idea is get some rubber glue from your local bicycle repair shop.

Their not bad, but Its the Precuasion side of me, that if they eventulty break or wear away into a little pile of dust I have a backup plan.
Not a big market? Not that many fans?
Its a mixed area, of course there isnt the biggest of markets like the City Commander Set, which I still want, Its the nice idea of having someone you can go to and ask for a spare part when yours finally wears away.
While on ebay anyone selling second hand G1 primes, may beg to differ. ive turned down so many figures because their missing a Tyre, Hose or some part that is irraplacble, because you cant get them again without hunting down for it in bulk lots.
And more importantly enough I dont want it to come to the point when we're all bidding high amounts of money on spare parts that every body needs, It will come one day, maybe not in our life time, but eventually. And sounding like Obama "Today is not the day I stop playing with my TFs with Tyres!"

Hehe, nice reference.
Yeah, making parts like tires would be pretty tough for the average person like myself who has no clue about where to start.
I don't think I'll have too much trouble in my collection for rubber tire issues. RiD Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus are my main concerns. Does anyone know of any other figures that seem notorious for tire problems?

Don't get your hopes up. The guy that did the molds for them had a stroke about five years ago. They kept saying they were coming back, but the last update was May of '08. At this point it doesn't look promising.
Wheeljack's Lab usually has tires for Prime, Ironhide, Grapple and Red Alert, and if you ask, he can sometimes find other styles as well.
