Should we throw away our empty TF boxes?

Just a question im sure has been answered already, but im starting to have alot of boxes laying around and stacking up in my closet and dont know what to do with them? keep them or throw them away! i hate throwing them away, cause i llike the data information on the back and it keeps me in mind where the character came from and his stats. Thought of either cutting out the information part or scanning the information into a image on the PC and saving it that way, but i dont know! any ideas???

Cut out any bits you want and bin the rest. Seriously, what are you going to do with a load of empty boxes?

Re: Should we throw away our empty TF boxes?
Yea, I have been saving mine, but am starting to think, what is the point. I don't read the boxes, I just store boxes inside of bigger boxes. I have a feeling that one day it is going to be like my 400-500 CD cases. Took me three moves before I said WTF am I doing lugging these things around? That day just hasn't hit yet with my formers.

Well it all depends on where you live. If it's a huge house with plenty of extra space, or even an extra room, go right ahead. If you live in a 2 bedroom or smaller apartment, it's got to go.
I keep all my boxes because space isn't an issue. If it does become one in the future, I don't mind getting rid of them.

I only have a few of my boxes and threw out/recycled the rest of them, particularly the new ones. However, I kept all of the paperwork that goes with the figure. Otherwise, the empty boxes would take up a huge amount of space.

I keep most boxes, but throw away all cards. Occasionally, I'll toss out a box. Mostly though, I tell myself I need them in case I want to sell the figure later. Considering that've I've sold one TF out of my collection in the 22 years I've been collecting, that argument loses some of its strength.

I really depends on storage space, are you going to sell them and do you want to leave a more valuable legacy for your kids when you die.

toss the crappy normal hasbro boxes, they aren't worth keeping, but keep the awesome resealable boxes like exclusive boxes and MPs and Revs. I kept my Nemmy box because it is rare, but scrapem.

Recycle!
Any data on the back can be found online with a simple google search or a trip to tfu.info
No need to keep the boxes, though I agree for the resealable boxes keep those.

I toss most of them out. I only keep the ones I label collector friendly that is I can put the figure back into them.
Boxes that aren't completely destroyed when trying to open a figure for the first time.
So almost all hasbro boxes go way. Only some Takara boxes stay.

Re: Should we throw away our empty TF boxes?
As far as the box debate goes... I agree that really I am only going to keep the Masterpiece and nicer ones. I was in the habit of keeping any and all boxes paperwork etc... and just recently started to get ready to move into my house... and noticed that i have 8 garbage bags of boxes. I was saving for the possible resell in the future... but I don't want to sell my stuff and asked by buddy James who is a manager at the Earth Toy Mall (Check em out if you are looking for vintage and older toys y'all) for some advice on if it helped the price. He told me for the newer stuff the boxes if the toys are removed don't help the price. They are still just loose complete figs. so the boxes really won't help your cause all that much. Really it was hard for me to toss my boxes... but now I am going to be able to store a whole lot more space for more TF's in my new house!!!

I think scanning the relevant parts of the packaging is a good idea. I keep MP, Import, Special Edition, TFCC boxes but even that is space consuming.

ive been keeping any boxes that are voyager sized or bigger.. simple reason being is that and im looking to move in the new year... id sooner wrap my TF's in bubblewrap and put them back in those sized boxes than having to buy new boxes to pack them up in.
chances are once i do move ill probably recycle a few of them.. boxes like 20th anniversary Optimus Prime's are keepers though...

Re: Should we throw away our empty TF boxes?
I have always struggled with this. I used to save absolutely everything from the packaging, except the twist ties. I figured one day when I'm really old I will want to sell off my collection so keeping the boxes will help. Like others have said, I ended up with a closet full of big boxes full of empty TF boxes.
Last summer I decided to condense things and cut the bubbles off all the cards, but i left the voyager and leader boxes alone. That helped, but not very much.
Now the breaking point has arrived. My wife and I are expecting so we need to make one of our rooms into a nursery. Closet space is now at a premium so something's got to give. I don't know if I'll be able to just throw everything away. My plan is to collapse the boxes and see how that goes. If it still takes up too much space I'll try cutting out the back panel and tossing the rest.
I'm just talking about Hasbro boxes though. My encore and MP boxes will stay intact.

Re: Should we throw away our empty TF boxes?
I dispose of the cardboard inner sleeve (except if it's a BW Neo/BW2 one, 'cos they look cool), remove the tape and flatten the box. If it's a blister on card I throw away the plastic bubble but keep all the paper or card bits. Then the flattened boxes, the card backs, the instructions, the catalogues, the biocards, the mini-mangas and anything else paper all end up in a bag together in the side of my wardrobe. I keep the nice boxes extant but I store stuff in them.
