Skyfire kitbash complete

Postby huryochagi » Mon Mar 24, 2008 4:31 pm

I rebuilt a Classics Jetfire to Skyfire. I posted work-in-progress pictures a while ago. These are pictures from the final work.

I made a video of him which can be seen on my YouTube-channel:

Any constructive criticism is welcome. :P

Cool.

Did you encounter the same problem I did when I made mine? http://www.seibertron.com/energonpub/viewtopic.php?f=143&t=5454 I found that the backpack was heavier due to the addition of the wings and second cockpit. So he had trouble standing without falling backward. I fixed this by clicking the feet/thrusters forward a bit before opening them up.

So, is yours back heavy too, or did the additional parts you made for the rest of the body even the weight distribution out?

Thanks. Your Skyfire is awesome. I think you have more back-heaviness problems because your backpack is positioned higher, thus more weight. If it was positioned closer to the ground, the front of the figure would need less effort to out-balance it.

Mine is a little bit back-heavy but I can pose him by moving his feet in the correct position, even without bending the figure forward. Maybe a piece of steel in his cockpit helps. So far, he's able to stand upward without falling, so I won't modify the weight on the front. Because of the back-heaviness that is present, I pose him on safe places such as my desk or in a display case where he can't fall all the way down. The putty would shatter if he'd fall

Motto: "Know your enemy, then crush them."
Weapon: Gatling Cannon
That's really good!

I've seen a few Jetfire to Skyfire reworks, but I think I like this one the best.

It really captures the character very well!

Awesome! I'm a big fan of G1 cartoony goodness in custom figures and you sir do no disappoint. Some parts seem a little rough like the backpack areas around the wings, but otherwise it's an awesome execution!

very nice work. I love this mold. It breaks my heart that it wasn't released as a larger toy.
