TF Toy Passion Reignited!

Hi there, new guy here. I am just introducing myself. I started collecting beastwars transformers back in 1998 when I was 13 and stopped around Armada due to several reasons: Money, space, and too many repaints. When all was said and done, I think I had between 150-200 tranformers.

26 years old now, and suddenly got bit buy the TF bug again when I saw the awesome amount of detail and design that went into Transformers Animated. Being an animator myself, I loved the sleek simplicity that came behind these designs and their toys! These have been the most show accurate and fun to transform toys I've seen during my previous time collecting. It's such a shame I only discovered the line and show have been discontinued, but am making a strong effort in collecting the whole line save for a few repaints. I think I only have 4 or 5 more i'd like to get, already have over 18.

I also just recently picked up a couple Power Core Combiners. If I like the Combaticons and Huffer I just got, I'll probably pick up the rest of this line, haven't opened em up yet though.

If the new series coming, "Transformers: Prime", is any decent and they actually make toys for this series (I hear they might not at first), they'll I'll be continuing my childhood obsession and hope my g/f can put up with my ever growing collection.

So that's my passion reignited, all thanks to Transformers: Animated. Hasbro can suck it for letting such a great show end abruptly.

Nothing like getting your passion back, it happened to me about six years ago after a seventeen year hiatus when Mrs O decided on a whim to buy me Armada Supercon Prime for £1.99 in Woolworths (RIP). I remember the times with a smile. Welcome back!

Welcome to the gang! I stopped with Beast Wars and then my mom thrift shopped off my collection in the 90s. I was brushed by the bug with Universe Dinobot and TFTM Prime, and then properly bitten last year, scrambling for what remained of Animated. Good to see others with similar experiences.

Congrats on your rebirth. The 2007 movie and corresponding figures got my feet wet and also got me involved in my own custom repaints. However, as I said, those figures just got my feet wet. It was indeed the Animated figures that made me drown all over again. Only my very constrictive budget keeps me from going crazy. I only have 6 original Animated figures and 2 1/2 of my own repaints (painted G1 style Starscream, Thundercracker, and Skywarp with SW not being quite finished yet). If I had unlimited money, I would probably shop for Transformers at least once a day. Welcome and good luck!

'awesome amount of detail' and 'sleek simplicity' don't really go together in my opinion but never mind - welcome back! Did you keep your collection of Beasts etc.?

hehe, well by sleek simplicity I was talking more about their shapes and silohuette. The movie transformers have lots of parts going all over the place, making their silohuettes look like a mess... Some do intrigue me, like Jazz, Rampage (in the upcoming 3 pack), the Ice Cream truck twins. But I feel like I'm a little late in that game. The animated line has details that really make them stand apart, like their faces, weapons, and little nuggets you appreciate like Soundwave's audio control icons integrated into the front of his car mode.

I did keep my collection of previous transformers, I have them in a couple crates, but I don't know how well of shape they are in or if I'm missing ones... my brother was storing them for me for a year or two and I know he has a habit of selling my stuff without telling me. I'll be moving soon and once I unpack there, I will take an inventory. I'd like to get these old guys on display again!

BTW, I opened up the Power Core Combiners, and while there are a couple gripes, I feel like it's a pretty nice line. I think the 2 packs are cooler than the 5 packs, but being able to mix and match any of those combiners with the commanders makes the desirable in my opinion. I'm truly tempted at trying to recreate some of these in 3d and animate them in shorts since I doubt their get an animated series. I do 3D animation as my profession, so it's totally possible... just really time consuming. Any 3d modelers out there?!

i used to dabble in 3D, and i remember how hard it is to model a character.

my resurgence was in a bit of animated but mostly classics/universe/generations and it really hit me hard when i got here. welcome to the crew

I'm a modeler, nearing my degree. Back in the spring my final project for one class was a (non-transforming) Animated Starscream model.

SOB. If anyone had done that to mine there would have been serious consequences. I hope your stash didn't suffer too much!

Ha, you should've seen what he did with all my video games back in the day. Bastard would sell mine to game shops not even a month after I got them. Whatever, out of my life now. I'll be able to inventory them in a couple months. I'm expecting, though not looking forward to, seeing the chrome off a good portion of transmetals flaking and tires from my RID line cracking. Last I saw my RID Optimus had cracked tires, and a lot of the more colorful transmetals had cracking and flaking in their chrome. :BANG_HEAD:
