I think it's a great toy but I disagree on capturing the essence. I really didn't think it was Prime-y until the Henkei repaint.

Really???

I got mine for $40 MISB. I also got the Crystal Galaxy Force Prime set for $40 too. I can't believe they go for that much now.

I'm tossed up between G1 Prime, Star Convoy, Robot Heroes Prime, MP Prime, and ROTF Prime.

Yep, sadly. Sonic Convoy usually goes for well over $200 now a days, and it seems like everytime a cheaper one comes along, I can't quite justify the purchase. :-( There was a loose one a few days ago on eBay that nobody bought for $150. I'm kicking myself.

If this were just favourite Primes, I'd have said Rodimus since I never liked Optimus until the movie although Dreamwave gave him that great speech just before Superion dies.

In no particular order:

Classics

Armada Deluxe (it's such a great figure, I hate using that stupid 'bendy' title)

RID (plus I love Neil Caplan's performance, though Cullen is the best)

Energon

Actionmaster (I had such fun with him as a kid and he was closest Op in scale to Motormaster)

I want to say G1 but I've always hated his head. Those yellow eyes just look creepy, same with Cybertron.

Though I like a lot of the Cybertron line, I always thought Cybertron Prime and Megatron were the worst versions of both characters.

BTW, favourite non-Beast Megatrons (my alltime favourite Decepticon)

G1

Both Classics

Actionmaster

Armada

Hmm, I don't agree on that because despite the Henkei colour scheme being more G1(less yellow, more silver), it wasn't as if Classics Voyager OP didn't possess the normal visual cues of Optimus Prime's iconic colour scheme(blue helmet, silver faceplate, red torso, blue and silver legs). However, I was referring to the design of the mold capturing the essence of the G1 OP in a contemporary design.

Weapon: Railgun
My top 3:

1. MP Optimus Prime - He's huge, he's heavily articulated, and he's the perfect incarnation of the original OP... Need I say more?

2. Armada Optimus Prime (the deluxe toy) - I'm not sure why I love this guy so much... I think it's just that he's a departure from other primes in that they don't try to give him chest windows when they shouldn't be there (like for Laser OP) and I really like his bulky, almost armoured look. Plus the blaster smokestacks on his fists look awesome. I should note that I'm only talking about the little version of this Prime... the full-sized toy is about as poseable as a statue, in either his regular or super mode. *epic fail*

3. RID Prime / Omega Prime - Just overall cool. A Firetruck is a great alt mode, and this toy was decently articulated, and had a ton of options in that he could go super-mode or combine to form Omega Prime, who, while a bit unwieldy, made an awesome display piece. I'm sad that I let this guy go.... ;(

I can't think of a Prime or Convoy I own that I don't think is pretty damn good and I've got em all baby (Except ROTF Buster or the first release). The only suggestions I have for ones to avoid would be the Alternator and Energon versions. I like both of them fine but they seem to not be fan favorites.

Here are my favorites, in order:

G1- Nostalgia, fun transformation, playability, displayablilty, it's got it all.

Classics- Looks like an updated OP. Looks great, another fun transformation- not too easy, not too difficult. He probably gets more playtime than any other classic I own. I bought a BTS trailer for him, and he is now one of my favorite display pieces as well.

Masterpiece- What can you say? He looks perfect. I ranked him lower because I hardly ever take him off the shelf and he never leaves robot mode.

ROTF Leader- Looks great in both modes, he's big, and bad, and he had Peter Cullen's voice. Again, he is ranked lower because he stays displayed in one mode most of the time.

Well, yes, but I only collect one version of each mold, unless it's meant to represent a new character. ;)

For me, I like the original G1 Prime, R.I.D. Prime, Armada Prime, Live Action Prime, and the more recent one- War for Cybertron Prime. All 5 of these Primes I like equally.

Animated Prime. I love the toy because it is show accurate, and fun to play with. I just love the way the animated toys look, strong jaw lines. I like his character, the relationships he develops with his crew and Sentinal... i just love the guy.
