The curse of the neon hinges
The curse of the neon hinges

My walmarts, all four, have been COMPLETELY BARREN of transformers of any kind for over three weeks now. (Anyone else having this problem and if so whats the deal?)
Meijers and Toys R Us have them, but they have been picked through and all that remains is the typical wall flowers that plague all of our stores.
I did however see something new. A beast wars Optimus prime.
He looks really friggin awesome! If I didnt already have classics voyager prime I would have snatched him up immediately!
Im glad this figure is out because now people can have a sweet G-1 looking prime to add to their classics collection without paying ebay prices for voyager classics prime.
The only problem is that he has neon green joints and even neon green glass!!
I have noticed that hasbro has consistently cheapened the looks of their classics figures with the application of neon joints, pin striping, details, etc,
I wonder why? If I had to guess, Id say that hasbro believes that classics figures are going to cater primarily to us fans who are in the grand scheme of things limited in number.
To combat that problem I believe hasbro thinks that adding neon flashy colors is a way to draw attention to figures that kids would otherwise have no interest in.
I believe that the figures in question are strong enough to stand on their own, free of neon colors. After all, they attracted our attention as children and again as adults,so why not give them a chance?
I look at the neonized figures in question and then I look at their Japanese counterparts that have almost perfect G-1 color schemes and I have to frown because if I want to own a G-1 colored figure I have to go ebay and with ebay come ebay prices.
Most times the neon colors IMO either ruin, or severely cripple the figure. Voyager classics megs, fall of cyber onslought, beast wars prime and universe galvatron to name a few.
Then theres the other figures that dont have neon colors but are still colored awfully and an otherwise great figure is ruined as a result. Those figures, as with the neonized figures, have Japanese counterparts with great color schemes that make all toe difference.
Heres hoping that hasbro will some day follow suit with takare and give our figures proper G-1 colors.

Transformers: Prime Beast Hunters Optimus Prime. Beast Wars is a different toyline and continuity with a different Optimus.

Well, you can never have too many Optimi.

Disclaimer: not mine.

The term most popularly used, and may be official, is translucent.

Beast Hunters Optimus isn't a Classics figure. And I don't know of many Classics figures with translucent joints, pins stripped, lacking details, etc.

the plastic that makes up TFP BH Optimus' windows is both translucent (being that it's no opaque, light travels though it) and neon green (it's a really bright green colour)
Also looking for Universe Repugnus and Overbite, Frostbite and Longhorn and any Webdiver toys.

Oh, really? I didn't notice that.
don't try to correct someone by pointing out a different aspect of something.
I was suggesting the use of the term translucent on his wording of "neon green glass." I wasn't correcting him.
