There are some OK episodes in the show, but it quickly becomes incredibly silly, even by Transformers standards, but then again, laughing at it is so enjoyable I managed to finish the series.
It's almost as hilarious as Animated, but unintentionally so.

idk people disliked HM that much. I have high regards for that show and the rest of the Japanese trilogy. Much better than most of season 1 and 2 from G1. Bots actually die, cybertron gets a....."makeover", and SIX SHOT!!!
The japanese voice actors are good. I say watch the subbed ver.

Masterforce though is fantastic, much better than anything Headmasters has to offer.

Yes and Yes. MF gave me one of my fav bots/concepts of Ginrai being born in Convoys body through his godmaster the "real" Ginrai.

This shoulda happened. It would have been weird, but also awesome. A more epic end than the Headmasters forming a circle of energy and burying him in ice.

Soundblaster's and Twincast's upgrade were totally necessary. Going from blue to black and red to blue(respectively) totally made them more durable and increased their power at least four fold.
In all seriousness, at least Soundblaster got a new mold chest that could hold two cassettes. And the door had that cool red color that could decode certain stickers, I think Ratbat had one that showed Fort Max's weak points.

Twincast likewise got a remolded chest with a red window.Duke of Luns wrote:In all seriousness, at least Soundblaster got a new mold chest that could hold two cassettes. *looks Twincast up on the wiki*
Huh, never realized Twincast could also hold two cassettes. I always thought he was just a straight repaint. Awesome

What's cooler is that the animation models for Soundblaster and Twincast in the show reflected these mold changes by having each of their chest windows jut out a bit further from their torsos.Duke of Luns wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Twincast likewise got a remolded chest with a red window.Duke of Luns wrote:In all seriousness, at least Soundblaster got a new mold chest that could hold two cassettes. then started on headmasters, which i also just finished.
my overall thoughts were:
1) The end of G1 the last few seasons were pretty good, compared to the beginning - which just felt like long introductions.
2) the concept of the headmasters didn't really sit well with me at the beginning - since I felt the way that they introduced at the end of G1 was so massively different - but after finishing - and starting super god master force - i've grown to accept it. And they incorporated the G1 concept for the headmasters jrs.
Headmasters was an interesting run - other than how they killed off or wrote the characters off the show - that was LOL - pretty weak. But I grew to like the characters, and how they interacted.
I liked it, but i kind of see it as --- compared to Gundam - just a side story to the overall G1 continuity/timeline.
Kind of like the original gundam vs like 08th MS Team.

I don't hold the same nostalgia for this series, Masterforce, and Victory as I do the three earlier seasons from the original series. I have a hard time listening to the Japanese and having to sit and actually watch and read the subtitles. The cartoons are hard to sit and watch with that much attention for me. I'd rather be able to listen and do something else as I 'watch' because the plots aren't overly interesting and are way too repetitive. There's some cool stuff, the trains, the loss of Soundwave and Blaster and Ultra Magnus, and more. Perhaps if I had seen it growing up, it would be different for me,
However, the English dub is fairly impossible to listen to. For me that's where Daniel, Blurr, and Wheelie became really annoying and it makes about as much sense to me as hearing it in Japanese.
Still it is more G1 goodness, and does not feature a headmaster Arcee, and no human as headmaster robots intergration (although that comes in Masterforce), so it certainly has some fun qualities!

I do enjoy this series, but a lot of small details are becoming more difficult to remember. I recall now that Sixshot basically straight up kills the clones (Pounce & Wingspan), its clear they are dead as their heads are detached from their bodies. However in a later scene, they are shown to be helping Scorponok with his final plan to destroy earth...was it ever mentioned in the Japanese continuity that there could be more than one set of each factions clones?

Nope. Just either a continuity error or case of a Monty Python-styled "I got better."o.supreme wrote:Just decided to rewatch the last few episodes of this series to celebrate picking up ER Scorponok.

Yeah, cuz the same duo goes on to make a later appearance in their pack-in Legends manga chapter.o.supreme wrote:ok, thanks. I know they call they are called "clones", but pretty sure there were still only 2 of them, not like sparkless drone Masterforce Seacons.
