Rumor is this will have a closing credit sequence that may serve as a bridging moment to the X-Men First Class follow up film now filming called Days of Future Past.
I think this looks good and I just worry it may get lost in the shuffle. Luckily it's at the end of summer so maybe that'll help it. All the bigger films will be behind it with smaller competition like Riddick 3 the only looming competition of note.

Days of Future Past is a sequel both to First Class and The Last Stand, actually. And Bryan Singer is directing again, so that's cool.

Its quite a good movie, though it does have its issues.
Spoilerrificness ahead.
Its a much darker toned Wolverine movie. Happening after the events of Last Stand.
All in all its nicely structured, and the tone is right for a very tormented Logan story.
The fights are well done, and the claws now look specially well rendered in pretty much all of the CGI shots. Unlike in Origins were those claws had moments of cartoony horridness.
Anyway, the back story of the Silver Samurai is butchered turning the actual Sllver Samurai from the comics into a pansy, awkwardly defined character. I'm not blaming Win Yun Lee's portrayal of Harada as the culprit, more the way he was written for the movie.
Instead of being the awesome and threatening Silver Samurai he is relegated to third / fourth fiddle behind the mastermind and antagonist Master Yashida, and his lackey Viper. In essence this could have been forgiven, if it had been handled a little better. However my main issue with the movie is the robotic armor the aging Yashida is placed in. To me that just jumps the shark entirely, and is kind of a WTF moment in the film.
The big robotic armor was unnecessary, they could have made Mr Yashida succeed in taking part of Wolverine's healing factor to rejuvenate himself and gain in the process more strength, and agility to face off against Logan in a more normal armor made from whatever secret metal you want, instead of bringing in a ridiculous looking robot armor that does nothing to keep the story going.
All in all the movie was looking good up until the end battle. A little confusing as you never could tell what was really going down, but maybe that was by design.
The credits scene with Magneto and Professor X is pretty good, and fills me with anticipation for the Days of Future Past movie.
So for a general Chronology of the X-Men franchise:
1. Origins: Wolverine
2. First Class --- Origins: Wolverine (Some events happen at the same time as First Class Movie as evidenced by the recruitment scene in First Class)
3. Days of Future Past (Some events happen after First Class)
4. Origins: Wolverine (Final movie events here)
5. X-Men
6. United
7. Last Stand
8. The Wolverine
9. Days of Future Past (Future Events happen here)
Famke Janssen's appearances as Jean / Phoenix tormenting Logan lead credence to the theory of the apparent survival of the Phoenix force, and Jean's consciousness. Since she was a telepath. I'd have to go back and watch Last Stand again to see exactly what happened, but It loks as if she's not really gone. Even though this could simply be Logan's own mind playing tricks on him.
All in all a pretty good movie up until the end. Hopefully Days of Future Past is as awesome as its being promised to be.
