Thoughts on the Crossover lines???

Right now there's a Star Wars line and a Marvel Comics line. :???: Here are my 3 questions:

How do you feel about Transformers crossovering with other companies?

How do you feel about the figures themselves?

What other lines would you like to see Transformers "crossover" with?

All answers would be greatly appreciated.

They sucked.

Every single one of them sucked.

Unless they're going to be TF characters utilising some other universes vehicles, DO NOT WANT.

I agree completely with the above, except I think Hulk was a good toy, and Venom was decent.

As I've said before, the line should have been things like the Spider-Mobile turning into a familiar Autobot.

They're not that bad, some of them are pretty good actually. I'd like to see a Nintendo crossover line.

Samus could transform into her ship. There's a lot of repaint potential with that.

Fox could transform into an Arwing. They could do head swaps and have the whole team.

Bowser could transform into one of those flying ships from SMB 3

Mario and Luigi could come with a mushroom, fire flower, and starman that transform into super mode armor for them.

Wario could transform into his motorcycle.

A Piranha Plant could transform into a green pipe.

There's a lot of potential there.

Every time this subject comes up, I must repeat what is pretty damned obvious: the SW crossover line represents one of THE biggest wastes of a moneymaking concept I've seen in a long time.

An actual crossover between SW and TF. Think about that for a second. Put aside the egos and big heads and simply think about that. Not just toys, but comics, novels, video games, TV shows. I defy you to tell me a SW-themed Optimus Prime would not be made of pure, distilled win. And they threw it all away for these pieces of ****.

:???: :BANG_HEAD:

A complete, total waste. Pure stupidity here, folks. They had a license to print money... and threw it away for a bag of beans that weren't even magic.

Yeah, I found them highly disappointing. If they had, say, Starscream turning into an X-wing, or Unicron as the Death Star, I would've liked them a lot more.

As is, I got three of them, all many years ago. Luke as X-wing and Vader as TIE Fighter both were pretty shoddy and crappy, I felt, but Han and Chewie as the Millennium Falcon was a little better. At least it makes a good Millennium Falcon, I haven't transformed it in almost as long as I've had it, so I don't remember the mech modes enough, but I don't remember them being anything special.

The biggest problem is these figures weren't designed by Hasbro's "Transformers Design" folks, but by the "Star Wars Design" folks, etcetera. They looked at existing TF's, just for ideas on how to fold, etc.

As for the lines themselves, the following are the only halfway decent figs from them I have seen to date:

Star Wars:

Commander Cody. And he's iffy with his narrow hips.
Darth Vader Death Star. And he's a shellformer worse than Unicron.

Marvel:

Hulk Tank.
Captain America.

I agree with this.

But that being said, they have to be making money for Hasbro, Marvel and George Lucas. Otherwise, they would have pulled the plug on them by now.

1)How do you feel about Transformers crossovering with other companies?

I think it has potential for drawing in new fans.

2)How do you feel about the figures themselves?

So far they've mostly been awful.

3)What other lines would you like to see Transformers "crossover" with?

I could see Halo working well, although I don't play computer games.

The Crossovers line is indeed a waste of money.

The Star Wars alt modes are pretty nifty, if nothing else. Partly because of the fact that they were designed by SW designers. Hasbro just slapped a TF logo on it.

Had there been more collaboration between them, the products would've been amazing. The Vader/TIE Fighter had the most potential, with the wings becoming cape-kibble instead of one becoming a shield and the other becoming static. Not to mention stylizing the characters. I mean they transform into vehicles, any semblance of accuracy is thrown out the window so they may as well go with stylizing. For example, the Vader/Death Star. Vader certainly isn't that bulky in the movies, not to mention his life-support panel is replaced with a giant cannon.

The Marvel Crossovers are better at this, especially with the new Ghost Rider figure. Captain America and Tank Hulk were good too, not to mention Venom as a muscle car. Though the line as a whole isn't anything to shout about.

tl;dr: Let Hasbro do the robot mode.

I Was a huge SW collector before getting into TF. I bought thr Vader crossover for the fact that it's my 2 fav lines come together. No plans to buy any others but I got the Melinium Falcon on clearance for 8 dollars. After looking at the bot modes I thought it was kind of dumb for Han to have hair. What robot needs hair?

I would have thought more of them if they would have been a throwback to Diaclone and came with a figure to put in the seat, leaving the vehicle to tuen into a cooler looking robot.

Some of the Marvel vehicles are nice. Really clean and unmistakable design on what it's supposed to be. I'd buy a nice G1 remold of a few.

Perhaps making money, yes. But the amount they could've made with a full crossover is like comparing Everest with the tallest mountain in Florida.

I don't personally like Crossovers, but they're still Transformers nonetheless. I was a former Star Wars obsessed kid who also enjoyed Transformers, and I was so excited when Star Wars Transformers came out. I only got Darth Vader though, and I kinda forgot about them. I look at them once in a while, but they don't interest me. However, I like the look of the new Marvel Iron Man 2 Crossovers series, and I think I'll try out one of the Iron Man versions and War Machine.
Please note: If you think I may be joking, I probably am.

Mildly.

Personally I never cared for the crossovers myself, but the marvel ones look a lot better as Transformers than anything out of the Star Wars line. If the molds themselves were utilized for not-marvel/star wars/other crossover characters they might be half decent as original TF characters.

As for the TF characters using another universes vehicles as a crossover... well I can see the appeal there, I mean I even fantasized about things like a transforming Ecto-1 or General Lee in my youth, but now the idea just seems a little crass.

They're not as polished as some of the newer stuff, but I think some of the figures (Spider Man, Iron Man, Hulk, Cap, Torch) are steps above older Transformers toys. Imagine the Iron Man Car design on one of the Autobot cars or Hulk's tank mode or Buldozer mode on a Decepticon.

This would be pure, epic WIN! I've been wanting an Arwing Transformer ever since I've been collecting Transformers!

I think that if they Hasbro simply put more work into the Crossover figures, they could have been much better. I would sort of like them to do a G.I. Joe Crossover line, since there could be some pretty cool vehicles in it. I'd also really like a Halo line. A Warthog that turned into a Master Chief-like Autobot would be awesome.

Fer sure bros. Despite the reports of neither fan group being excited to buy these things, some body is, because not only are there always new ones being announced but they're never even on the shelves at the stores I haunt. Someone clearly likes them, and maybe we armchair toy designers and company CEOs don't know everything that we think we do about marketing and toy companies. Food for thought, that.

Anyway, in my younger collecting days I was less discriminating and just loved transforming robots. I had a bunch of the SW ones and was pretty disappointed by them, although some of the newer ones are interesting looking. But by this point, I'm too disinterested to be interested.
