Question for those who have dared to clean, how did you go about cleaning over and around the wingstripes and is the silver on the engine covers and other decals.
What sort of steps did you take?

So all of them will have the same kind of smirk?
I didnt know that they put a smirk on MP Screamer's face but I could modify that real eazy.
my "smirk-face" is so badly painted i may re-do it

I wonder if my home made hooch will be strong enough

So what's this about plastic degredation? What's happening to the figure?

Why the need to paint the face? All Seekers have the same silver-colored faces. Only the body color changes.

I do think the weathering in some spots are silly looking. They would work if its applied very lightly, like the very light streaks on the bottom of the tail fins. I mean, even my car get some of those after driving freeway a lot without a car wash. But when its so dark, its not realistic any more, look more like the jet got burnt. But yet, those are not shaped like it took some hit or damage. So I cleaned up some of the ones I don't like, but keep some in areas that makes sense. Though there are some lucky few that has pretty light application on theirs, so those don't look as bad.
In terms of the plastic degrading, its basically some people start to spot the stress marks on the big wing flip up hinge joint (with a tiny metal pin), the same spot where MP-03 had problems. Some due to using Testors paint thinner for cleaning (which will melt plastic as Testors are way too strong, ironically, they are made for plastic models). Others suspect the alcohol might do something to it too, but there are a number of examples with parts dipping in alchohol entirely for a good amount of time, with no ill effects at all. So its also possible that some of the pins wasn't inserted properly at the assembly, so causing premature stressing on that hinge, as some people that didn't clean their MPSS got stress marks too. So it could also be the plastic quality not being as good as what people thought it was.
