I agree, Michael Bay has kinda made things too wierd. WFC was the perfect middle ground.
Finally, i'm all down for a badass phoenix, but that ain't a badass phoenix. At best, its alt mode is cool, and the the beast mode is okay without the tail and neck+head.
I'm sure if FP made a laserbeak, it'd trump every iteration possible, while still being G1 enough.

Wow...everyone thinks I'm being completely serious today. I even put two smileys in there.
But I actually didn't mind the 80's cassettes. I guess this guy is too far away from the original Laserbeak even for me...the movie-lover change-embracer. I mean, I'll probably like the on-screen character, but this toy looks like junk.

Hasbro has the design rights to do what they want with there toys, sad to see that Laserbeak got little creative development.

They could have at least painted the eyes up. And for some reason, those giant bird feet just piss me off.

The alt mode looks passable, like a military UCAV drone...with bird feet.

I see the curse of ROTF Ravage upon this toy. It is evil.

the little bird head thing looks kinda cool ; gives me an old school vibe .. but the "dragon/condor/flying ostrich of doom" looks like crap. The eyes look like those of the giant eyes fish you'd see at wal-mart as a kid and be like LOL who'd buy that ugly sucker?

All in all, his transformation is similar to that of ROTF Ravage in being that it just added something little and stupid so it could be called a "Transformer". Don't get me wrong, I liked Ravage and all.. but come on .. the transformation was weak... I'd prefer it turn into an 8 track than it just fold up into an "entry mode" :BANG_HEAD:

But yah... I'll get this guy if they come out with a better Soundwave than ROTF's so he can have Laserbeak, Ravage, and HA Barricade's Frenzy. wooooooooooo :-B

I'm not seeing the big optics. I do see the red in the turbines though...the video game has redeemed itself in this matter, lol.

It's just the head that's really bugging me right now. I'd like to see a front view to get a better idea of it....

Wow… Now that I see a picture of it, you're right. (I wasn't aware this existed; I never really kept track of G.I. Joe.)

And I think this drives home the biggest problem with this figure: the alt mode is a poor representation of a vehicle, regardless of whether that vehicle is itself fictitious. The alt mode looks more like a slightly different bird robot than a human aircraft.

Laserbeak as a wyvern? Not my first choice; but not a major turnoff. An alt mode mode that looks like WTF-is-that? No thanks.

I don't understand why it's so hard for the movieverse people to come up with designs that work in two modes. Scorponok was crap, Ravage was crap, Laserbeak is looking like crap, all the Megatrons in the first two movies and Soundwave have been crap, the Fallen was crap--how hard is it to come up with an idea like the new DOTM Megatron where the alt mode is something remotely believable, instead of just a folded-up pile of crap? They haven't gotten a single animal-based design that actually transforms, none of the "cybertronian" alt modes have been convincing, and the vast majority of the Decepticons have major flaws like bug faces, gorilla arms, and chicken legs. They need to let toy engineers design the bots and just spruce it up in their software for the 3D movie models.

I'm actually really liking this toy.

These pics are really making this look neat, especially the wing folding/transforming. Probably will be one of the few toys I buy from this line.

I agree with most of you. This toyline keeps getting worse and worse. My desire to see this movie is theaters has wained almost entirely. There's no amount of legendary characters Bay can throw in this movie that'll make me go see it, I think.

Ok, I'm taking back like everything wrong I said about this figure.

Now that he is correctly transformed he looks really good. His proportions might be his best feature, liflike if a robot condor existed in nature :lol:

His Alt mode is very cool, that attack helicopter like form with built in Thrust intakes. Takes memback to the helicopters in Avatar, now I'm starting to wonder if that is where they got the design from. What we thought was his head, turned out to be a detailed cockpit, and I can't tell you guys how much we dodged a bullet there.

The condor mode looks so cool, and evil. Like how Ravage was designed, Laserbeak seems to be getting the same treatment.

The only gripe with this guy are those stupid Playschool-Red wings. The wings look good and would comement the figure if Hasbro had just painted them black maybe even with some silver highlights.

So far the figure looks great, but I recommend to everybody to get this figure, paint the wings black, or something other than that hideous red.

The alt-mode looks alright, maybe it's meant to be one of the dropships from the trailer. Also reminds me of Laserbeak from the ROTF game.

But bot-mode... urgh. I expected some sort of spiky, razor-bladed arrow-head, not some clumsy-looking suffocating-chicken face. The chunky legs are distracting too. The worst thing is that I can't stop picturing this:

He looks so much better in the trailers for the game and movie, why does the toy look so crap?

He looks crap, I would have thought such an iconic character would have been better represented.

In fact thinking about, Soundwave and all of his 'cassettes' have been rather poorly portrayed by the Bayverse. Yet another disappointing fail.

Quick question, Is Soundwave a SUV in DOTM. I heard he is in the game and since it's a prologue to the movie I was hoping he keeps the Alt-mode in DOTM.

Just watched the review. Pretty cool Transformer, and I agree with Peaugh. The wing color is a little bit much, but I don't really mind it. And like I said before can't stand the head so I'll just leave that part stuck in it's Alt-mode.I Like that he can roost on Other transformers arms though. I'll get him.
