Wouldn’t it be called Galvaconvoy and not Black Convoy? Or is there a Nemesis themed Lio Convoy I’m not aware of?

Figured as much, anything Japanese Beast Wars is far beyond my knowledge apart from the Convoys.

His name was "Copy Convoy", so this wouldn't be that.

No, it just got that way on the secondary market before being reissued. MP-10B was ~140, MP-10 with trailer and all that was ~200-220 back then. Later reissues of both were some % less expensive which definitely doesn't help the recollection of how much they were.

I was sure we had given up on the numbers making sense. They don't. Since Takara clearly doesn't care about the numbers, we shouldn't either.

Also, in my usual self I will say this, anyone expecting more than a standard redeco will be dissapointed.

Again, the number itself has no real significance. At best it denotes either retooling or just straight redeco with new accessories, like these guys:

MP-38 Convoy (Beast Wars) Legendary Supreme Commander Ver. (aka the toy-accurate one)
MP-40 Targetmaster Hot Rodimus

The number in itself, unlike the others mentioned, bears precedent. Every single Nemesis Prime in the MP line to date has been a 'B' listing of a corresponding Prime. All three of them:

2009/10

2013

2017

What makes this one so special, over its predecessors? Aside from HasTak trying to fleece the fanbase with the same extortionate mold: but in black

The MP figures that get their own numbers are mass retail figures. Therefore, this Black Convoy will most likely be a mass retail figure.

This is likely going to be the First MP Nemesis Prime for mass retail and conveniently enough, the most expensive one.

Other than Scourge in Car Robots, is Nemesis IE Optimus Prime in a black deco, ever an actual character in ongoing fiction? I'd have thought this is kind of a hard sell, to general consumers, otherwise. Given his obviously high price point, without some kind of corresponding media, I can see this MP becoming a shelfwarmer.

Just curious, since Scourge is characterized as a black redeco of Optimus with teal highlights and red tinted windows, and Nemesis prime is characterized as a black redeco of Optimus with teal highlights and red tinted windows, what distinguishes the decos from one another as the basis for a toy?

I think the only reason Scourge stands out as a unique character with people is a combination of two factors: A) He was given his own unique name before the standard "Nemesis Prime" name came about, and B) he's the only version of the concept that exists as a fully fleshed out character, making people see him in a different light.

There may also be a third factor, in that many Nemesis Primes/Black Convoys are associated with Unicron, while Scourge has never been (though, Grand Scourge is, but he's a whole different confusing discussion).

In all honesty, if the name "Nemesis Prime" had existed at the time that Car Robots was being turned into Robots in Disguise, Scourge very likely would have been named "Nemesis Prime" instead, with the only reason that he wasn't being that the name simply didn't yet exist until it was conceived two years later during Armada.

Nowadays, "Black Convoy" and "Nemesis Prime" are equivalents of one another, and RiD 2001 Scourge was the first "Black Convoy". But since Scourge left such an impression with his fans, it might feel like a disservice to his legacy to retroactively rename him as just another Nemesis Prime.

Though, the "evil black and teal Optimus redeco" concept first originated with Copy Convoy in Beast Wars Second, while the "evil black Optimus redeco" in general all started with BotCon 1996 Onyx Primal (but he got retconned into being a Maximal by 1998, with a new online profile mentioning his defection from the Predacons to the Maximals after a falling out he had with the former).
