The official Transformers YouTube channel has uploaded the Transformers Prime season two teaser trailer that was previewed at this year's NYCC. Nothing new is revealed, but this is a much higher quality version compared to the recording from the NYCC panel.

So the question is, are they going to introduce a new character to take the "lead" for the Autobots, or get Prime back to the 'bots in short order with the key to Vector Sigma?

The Key could be the thing that brings him back, or it could be just a red herring to to throw us off and have some other purpose.

Though, I do see him taking command. After all, it wouldn't be the first time that a human was commander of the Autobots.

It's very likely that the innate qualities that made Orion Pax a Prime in the first place are still there. No doubt once he notices that "Megatronus" is not the same bot he remembers, he will slowly begin to drift back towards the Autobots. If and how we get the Optimus we know and love back is going to be the bigger question. I have a sneaking suspicion that the Key to Vector Sigma will come into play in this regard.

I'm not gonna fully believe that the Key will bring him back, as that would be a little too obvious. It could still be a red herring to this.

Though, as for Prime getting his memories back at all, who's to say that he will? He could very well never recover all of his memories and may instead have to grow and develop back into the Optimus we all know and love all on his own. Except, this time, he could grow into an even better leader than before (one who can show EMOTION). Such development would be a godsend to his character, as he's been nothing but a morally righteous yet very DULL "Stoicmus Prime" all this time up until now.

G1 had metal plates (such as Skyfire)
Animated had branding (the Constructicons)
WFC had holograms

So... you want him to be Rodimus Prime?

While it would be interesting character developement, it's more likely they'll simply restore Prime's personality to its status quo... though I can't think of thing they could do that wouldn't make his restoration seem cheap.

As for the Key, seems to be too much of a "Chekov's Gun" to not play some role in the new season.

No. I want him to be more like Animated Optimus Prime. Or like his old self from Exodus. A youthful idealist who was thrust into the role of leadership that he had to grow into and overcome the various trials and tribulations that helped mold him into a being of greatness. Rodimus Prime did not quite reach this mark due to his intense angst, uncertainty and feeling of being overwhelmed by the job getting the best of him often. These too, younger Optimuses, however, did not have such inner turmoil that inhibited their rise to greatness.

My first reaction to this was "HOLY MOTHER OF GOD!!"

I am really interested into seeing where this goes. Maybe Hasbro will release another 20-21 seconds of S2 goodness.
