What is the deal, i got shortround and yeah he is a nice little toy-but he is not the greatest thing in the world and frankly his arms bug me a bit.
So why is there so much shortround love around? Its something i have ment to ask for a while and just havent gotten around to, so please someone enlighten me!?

I don't know...kind of like the way that alot of people find small, ugly dogs to be adorable?
And I don't much like the name...sound like a sandwich.
"Come on in and try the BK Shortround for $1.99!"
Sure he isn't the great Scout-sized TF out there, but he is unique, and we haven't had a Seaspray-type hovercraft Alt mode in a long time. And he does have a great alt-mode.
The only thing that I don't really like about him is how he holds his gun, but other than that he looks likie a "Movie" version of Seaspray, with the oversized arms and more-alien face. If those claws of his were articulated, he'd be ten times better.

I told the fire to go **** itself, and it did.

Feel free to laugh at me, but Shortround is mt favourite transformer ever. ever.
ever.
I can only speak for myself here, but I think alot of fans like him because he, well, has alot of charm for an obscure, non-show Decepticon. His bio is great, and he has alot of "personality" if I can use the term.
Sure his arms could have been designed better (ball joints on the elbows would have been perfect) but I think he more than makes up for it with an uncommon alt mode, great colour scheme, cool gimmick, amazing paint detail (how they got the silver on those little tubes on his head I'll never know), and an all-around unique robot mode that really stands out on a display shelf.
Sometimes a certain toy just really strikes a cord with fans, like Bludgeon, Stalker, Scarem, Energon Divebomb and all those other obscure figures that seem to be fan-favourites among Transfans.
ever.

Kids, I tell you. Shortround is the kid from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.
And I like that description. Shortround is a pug.

HOnestly I don't know what the attraction is, but there is certainly something charming about the little guy.

Okay, to answer Grimsqueaker's original question of why do fans love Shortround...
THIS is why...

Thanks for the pic Emperor Primacron, I don't think I've ever laughed that hard at a TF pic before... I completely forgot Shortround could turn into a Deceptipotty.

Well, I am sure, given his bio, he's getting pissed on by everyone to begin with.
That or he has an odd fetish.

Dude, his bio says he's a freakin Transformers toy collector. The thing says his prized possesions are a complete set of G2 Stunticons and Protectobots... Seems like Hasbro is scratching the bottom of the barrel for decent bio writers.

I would say just the opposite. Having Shortround as a lovesick nerd that collects Transformers is a very refreshing and welcomed change compared to Energon, where most of the characters had boring cookie-cutter profiles and nearly every repaint was the original's brother.
Sure, Swindle and Repugnus are brothers (with Hardtop and Undermine, respectively), but that's far from the norm with Cybertron.

I like Shortround because he's a hovercraft which isnt done much since Seaspray. I don't think he is the best Basic but he is pretty cool.

where does it say that stuff? It aint on the packaging i got neither is it on the Hasbro Character Bio section, all they say is:
Some might call SHORTROUND obsessed because of the way he follows THUNDERBLAST around, but most DECEPTICONS just call him annoying. Still, he serves his purpose running supplies at speeds up to 350 mph over land and sea, and whenever the AUTOBOTS show up he freaks out – filling the air with enough superheated plasma to allow other DECEPTICONS to escape in the confusion. He may be a nerd, but at least he's a destructive nerd.

I laughed so hard I spit coke all over my screen after seeing the one with Dinobot and Wheelie.

"Consider the knowledge dropped."
From ToplessRobot.com:• "Watching Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is marginally better than sh***ing your pants, but it takes a lot longer." Very well put.

He is one of the better basic sized figures to be released in a very long time, he is very different, and out of proportion, but not in a movie Starscream kind of way.
He has character, even if you leave to bio and special Hasbro site info out of the equation, the little guy has a personality and character that is unique.

Heck yeah, non-show obscure Transformers are just awsome, I just can't explain why. Thus, Guiltor is my favorite Decepticon of all time, and it's very hard to get more obscure than that.
The toilet pics were great! Love 'em. And Shortround being a nerd makes him a notch higher on my "must get" list.
Oh, and I have a figure that very few people seem to love, Optimus Minor. I got him on a whim for $2 boxed, and when I opened him, he soon become one of my favorite Beast Wars figures.
