- Motto: "We Grimstone no bozo, we POPE!"
This is just the background universe to a story I am working on. Comments are appreciated.
This universe exists outside the Transformers multiverse, since it violates the idea of Unicron and Primus as singularities. A lot is still the same, as I want to match the feel of other universes. The biggest difference is that the Transformers as a species is very young.
When the universe was first born in the crucible of the big bang, a scientist from a higher plane of existence decided to study it. He created two robots to drop inside the universe, who would monitor until the verse died of heat death. Unicron, with his heart of fire, would monitor destruction. Primus, with his heart of electricity, would monitor creation. Neither was to intervene. To help make sure they didn't intervene, the scientist had them both transform into objects resembling planets (planets technically didn't exist YET, but they were an inevitability).
And so for billions of years Unicron and Primus sat and observed. Stars formed. Planets formed. Eventually, life formed and evolved into sentience. Both robots grew intrigued by the sentient species across the cosmos. Creation and destruction... with a purpose. It was beyond the scope of what their scientist builder had prepared them for.
Primus began rebuilding himself, combining the best aspects of the technologies of thousands of worlds. Eventually he was covered in cities, vehicles, weapons, and tools. Automated, but lifeless.
Unicron, on the other hand, decided that to truly complete his mission, to fully understand purposeful destruction, he would need to become a destroyer himself. So he became the planet eater, traveling across the universe and consuming every world in his path.
This continued until the day that Unicron devoured a planet that had lifeforms on it. Primus realized that he was bothered by this, that he had come to enjoy the life he monitored. Primus concluded that his mission would be a failure if creation was stopped prematurely by Unicron eating the creators. So Unicron must be stopped. Yet Primus was the weaker of the two robots. His only chance of defeating Unicron was not in his own power, but in the potential of the technology now covering his body.
So Primus divided his electric heart into hundreds of thousands of pieces, and imbued them into the technological marvels on his surface. In doing so, he sacrificed his ability to transform back into robot mode, but imbued that ability into his new children. The Transformer race was born.
In being created from pieces of Primus' heart, the Transformers all were born with language and some understanding of what they were. But they did not how they had come to be. They could point to the direction of planets that bore sentient life, in the same instinctual way that birds can find north. They had no knowledge of Unicron, except for a fear buried deep in their instincts, that would lie dormant for now.
Before long, the Transformers broke into factions and traveled to different worlds in search of answers. Two groups headed to Earth. Those that called themselves Autobots, who had inherited Primus' will to protect life, led by Optimus. And those that called themselves Decepticons, who in gaining Primus' will to keep planets safe decided that the best way was to conquer them, led by Megatron.
