Do you realize some people don't WANT a multi-player-exclusive game? Some people (Myself included) prefer a Single Player Campaign.
Hell, that's the only reason I've bought any game ever. Multi-player is only to sweeten the deal.

And you are aware that the opposite opinion exists, yes? Otherwise, how can you account for the success of Counter-Strike, World of Warcraft, EVE and Battlefield? What about Halo 2, which remained the most popular Xbox game until the release of Gears of War (a game developed by a company known for their multiplayer)? What about the success of eSports, CAL/CPL or Major League Gaming?
I like to play against my friends, and in the case of Counter-Strike play at a semi-pro level against good players. Story doesn't botehr me as much beacuse the gamers I fraternize with, we each have our own warstories. Whether it's an ace against a pro team in CS, wrecking a chopper carrying seven people with an escape pod in 2142 or storming the Carentan House of House Guns (tm UL Games Society 2003), there's always something to tell.

Congratulations, you missed the entire point of my post.
I said some people, I never said all people. If you were to make a game that is multi-player only, you'd be alienating a load of people, like myself.
And I play Exteel, which happens to be mutli-player only. Do I think it could do with a single player campaign? Why, yes, I do, but they never asked for my opinion, did they?
EDIT: And I bought Halo 2 specifically for the story.

Yeah, what a great story. It's inspired me to change the way I write. What I mean is....

MMORPG (or whatever) and other online games are indeed popular games, but like Shadowman I like to play a game bymself first. I use to do a lot of X box live and I loved to play with my friends, but I got kind of sick and tired of dealing with all the 12 year old retards who talk endless $hit to you. Therefor I really only played Xbox live with my friends from work.
Multiplayer is a addon IMO, and BF 2142 being multiplayer exlcusive shyed me away from it.

One thing though Shadowman. Drop your current demeanor if you can't take a retort. You took a simple point awfully personally there. I wasn't flaming or trolling in my reply to ACS so I can't see what I was doing wrong.

I see nothing being taken personally. I was pointing out that some people have different opinions of games.

One game I did play Multiplayer only was Diablo 2. I went straight to online play and played the game in open rooms going through the campaign and sometimes meeting up with others to help in quests. That was really fun to me, I rarely even touched the single player part.

Ultimately though the only way you will ever get good at any multiplayer-based game is to put in the hours. It took me months to get to level of CS:S I'm at now (I consider myself good, but not great), but that's to be expected when a dedicated player base has been playing the game and its' derivatives for 8 years. You WILL get better if you play for longer, just don't expect it to be easy.
Oh, and for the love of God, don't join random games on XBox Live. It'll put you off multiplayer for life.

Thats what has probably done it for me. I consider myself a pretty good Halo Player, i dont play it for 9 hours a day so im not like super hardcore player. But just going on those random games and hearing all these people jsut talk so much damn smack has probably turned me off to wanting to play online. It's not that I can't handle criticisim and dumb asses, it just gets old.
