Never changes. Always and ever will be Faith No More. That band has more creativity in its members' stomach acids than slightly less than 100% of everyone else.
I have to ask what an honourable mention is in this case, or is it just a second runner up.
My second favourite.

I'm sorry, folks, but I hate metal. But then again, I'm sensitive to loud noises. I grew up listening to bluegrass and country, so there you go. I also like classical and opera a lot. Most mainstream stuff today is so incredibly meh. Guys singing in high voices doesn't do it for me. The best music, in my opinion, was country music from the mid to late 80s til the mid 90s.
Best country artist: Garth Brooks!!!!

I could go on for hours on TMBG. But I won't.
Favourote genres, in order.
Metal (all sub cats)
Classical
Industrial
Techno (mostly Trance and Gabber)
Punk
Ska/Reggae
Rock (all sub cats)
Folk/Rockabilly/Bluegrass/Americana
There are more.
Least favs are Rap and country. I never could get into those. However, there are exceptions like Cypress Hill, Outkast, Leanne Rimes, Charlie Daniel's Band (But they're almost rock).
Bands, you ask? Way too many. I will tell you this. I am currently incorporating all of my music into my Mac to see how much I have. I just incorporated Beethoven's nine symphonies last nite and I am at 15.9 GB. Please note that I am uploading them in alphabetical order, so you do the math. That's a lot of music.

My favorite band tends to be the one that made the last CD I bought. But I can listen to pretty much any genre. But I mainly stick to Rock and alternative.

There is metal, and then there's actual music.
Current (new) favorite band: Poets of the Fall. If you've finished Max Payne 2, their first-ever single "Late Goodbye" is the ending theme. Between that and the Demo mode of 3DMark'05 where their second-ever single "Lift" was the credits music, I decided I *had* to get their albums Signs of Life and Carnival of Rust from Amazon. The albums, sadly, have not been released in America, so the import price is kinda hefty. You can see videos for several songs on their website (http://www.poetsofthefall.com) and on Youtube (Late Goodbye, Carnival of Rust, Lift, Locking Up the Sun, a ton of FFVII Advent Children fan videos set to Roses, etc.) Also, sometimes VH1 will play Carnival of Rust early in the morning (like 3 or 4am Central time). I just *have* to get the word out about these guys; they're flippin' awesome. Finland and Germany should not be the only countries that know about them.
Perennially on my iPod and in playlists in iTunes: Van Halen (previous favorite), Queen, Nine Inch Nails, Weird Al Yankovic

Yea, I did that.
Runner-Up: Led Zeppelin
Honorable Mention: DragonForce, Edguy, Hammerfall, Sonata Artica, Joe Satriani, and Buckethead
I also like Van Halen, Sabbath, Ratt, Linkin Park, POD, and somewhat MCR, LostProphets, Avenged Sevenfold, and Saliva.
Only thing outside of the rock genre I like is two Indie-hip hop artists:
Del tha Funkee Homosapien and MF Doom. Del has a lot of good songs that I can understand and don't revolve around a single word ("SO CRISPY") and nothing gets better than a guy dressed like Dr. Doom rapping about world domination.

Favourite band? Easy. Faith No More. Anyone who doesn't like Faith No More is wrong and should go hang themselves now. No, I mean it.
As for my favourite genre, it's got to be 80s new wave.

Favorite band? I don't have a single favorite, and I have too many to list all of them. :3
HIM, Julien-K, Sixx:A.M., Bowling For Soup, Three Days Grace, and the Goo Goo Dolls are pretty much the top of my list right now.
Favorite album at the moment is... Past, Present, And Future by Rob Zombie.
Favorite song...that's difficult. Probably "Silent Lucidity" by Queensryche. :]
I tend to try avoiding limiting myself to what music I listen to. I'll venture into pretty much any musical genre there is, save rap and today's disturbing version of 'metal'. I can't stand rap, and I also can't stand people screeching into microphones and calling it 'music'.

Some rap is good. RUN D.M.C., Beastie Boys (if they're considered rap still), Tricky, Public Enemy, DJ Jazzy Jeff and Fresh Prince, House of Pain, etc. One of the best albums ever is the Judgment Night soundtrack.
Nowadays, 50 Cent, Usher, Eminem, Kid Rock... They don't hold a candle to the rap classics.
