I just got my Verizon FiOS installed. Unfortunately, I am very disappointed.
First off, why does it take so friggin long to install? It took about a month from the time I ordered it for the guys to come and install it. The free TV isn't even here yet.
So then, my TV is all fuzzy, my computer is slow as ****, and my phone connection is VERY average.
My new computer router is ginourmous, and now sometimes I need to press another button on the remote before I can turn the TV on. Best of all, upon one of my phone calls with Xbox team, I discovered that they are having a lot of problems with online play and FiOS.
So now I'm thinking about switching back to Comcast and getting Triple Play. Anyone care to share their thoughts on this or help me?

Man your life must really suck right now.

Hope that free tv gets there soon.

That was absolutely tasteless and rude. Not to mention despicable to use a picture like that for something as pathetic as your board post.
If you spent good money on a service and didn't receive what was promised, you'd be complaining and asking for opinions as well.
Just needed something to do?

1.) FIOS is DSL. Glorified and speedy, but DSL. (DSL sucks. (personal experience) It's more expensive, more time consuming, and the installation takes time because they have to test your lines and make sure you're within a certain distance from their equipment for it to work. The further away, the slower and less reliable the service.)
2.) FIOS might be faster than most Cable services in a lot of markets, but the results vary for each customer and I'd venture a guess that a lot of them are having one or more problems with it, just like you are.
3.) The speed is unreliable apparently (just like DSL) and that would drive me nuts, especially for the prices it's commanding.
If I were you, I'd go back to Comcast. The Triple Play is a much better deal all around.
1.) The cable internet might not be as fast as FIOS claims, but at least it's consistent and generally keeps the speed they promise you.
2.) The phone is cheaper ($33.00 per service, I believe.) and the quality won't crap out like the FIOS service will. Granted, if the cable system goes down, so does everything running on it, but at least when it's fixed, everything's running all at once, again.
3.) I was told that FIOS gets it's TV service through DISH Network which is not a reliable service depending on the weather, whereas cable will work in pretty much any inclement weather. Interruptions and hiccups in service happen on occasion, cable's not immune to it, but it's still far more reliable than the phone company.
Triple Play is your best bet.

Well I decided I would call Monday and see what the problems are. Thanks for the help! The only problem now is I may have to pay a $200 penalty which sucks ass.

Oh yes, I forgot to mention that. DSL comes with a 12 month contract. Whether or not you buy the equipment, they're gonna screw you coming and going.
So it depends on you, do you want to continue paying their monthly fee (which will be waaaay more than $200.00) or just eat the loss and save money, time and patience in the long run?
