Classical Music post your favourite

Motto: "Don't do drugs, beer's cheaper anyway!"
I remember that we once talked about this in HMW GD but hey lets have a own thread for this.
Now I'm a bit weird you must know, as I'm neither Hip Hoper, Metal Head, Rocker or what ever the names of all the other fecking music fans are I just like music no matter from which genre as long as it sounds awesome to my ears.
While a usually thought I preferred music with lyrics I discovered that I actually have quite a very soft spot for classical music.
These are some of my favourites:
Requiem for a Dream I have no idea from which film this originates but hell it's epic!
Imperial March Vader FTW!
Star Wars main theme must I say more?
Spider-Man main theme Spider-Man alone is win give him such an awesome theme and he just kicks so much ass.
Spidey suite see above.
Godzilla Godzilla's theme I love him so much and his theme is one of the greatest ever suck in that 50's classic.
Antonio Vivaldi's The Four seasons. :APPLAUSE:

Wow and that's just the ones I can think of now with the sleepy brain of mine.

Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture, Beethoven's 9th Symphony (the "ode to joy"), and Handel's Messiah. I also enjoy listening to Mannheim Steamroller during the holidays, and I've heard they put on a really good show.

I like Albinoni. Piano music to kill yourself by. The adagio he's most famous for isn't apparently, even his, but it's still good.

Also Couperin. Mostly because his pieces have the weirdest titles like 'barricades mysterieuses'. You spend the whole piece trying to make the title somehow fit.

HK stuck listening to her officemate's 'ambient' (read: soundtrack at cat-raping factory) music.

I prefer a bevvy:

The Jaws theme of course, always sends a chill down spine.

Imperial March (My favorite ringtone!)

The War of 1812 Overture I lvoe how the cannons shake my side view mirrors!

Toccata and Fugue in D Johan Sebestian Bach rocks the house with this eerie offering.

The theme from Beetlejuice Nice work Mr. Elfman

The Joker's theme in the Dark Knight, entitled Why So Serious? That creepy violin noise is played by running razor blades across violin strings. How incredibly appropriate.

James Bond theme. What can I say, It's bad ass.

Godzilla's theme. Also one of my favorites of all time. Godzilla rules!

Just about every ounce of material composed by John williams for the Star wars films. Special notice to The main theme, the Imperial March, The Asteroid Field, the music from the space fight in Return of the Jedi, Han and Leia's theme, Luke and Leia's theme, Battle of the Heroes, Sail Barge Assault, and Tie Fighter attack.

Also, the Raiders March, aka, Indiana Jones's theme music. Dadada, dadada!

The Joker's theme from The dark Knight, and also the Like a Dog chasing Cars.

probably some more that I can't think of at the moment

True, but completely off topic.

ahem.

As far as modern classic goes, John Williams has put out so many good pieces it's hard to pick just one. Effman also has some good pieces but for me it depends on the source he is scoring, Not that the piece isn't good, but more that I wouldn't concider it to be classical.

For traditional pieces, Mozart, Bach, Tchaikovsky and a couple others are in my collection. NOt a large part of my CD shelf but a part regardless. But I listen to the Planets by Holst the most.

Anything by Grieg. His piano concerto is mind-blowing, and the incidental music for "Peer Gynt" is fantastic. Also, Prokofiev has done some amazing work.

Star Wars theme
Star Trek theme (from The Next Generation series)
Indiana Jones theme

Would Steve Jablonsky's score from Transformers classify as classical music? 'Cause I'm so crazy about that score!

For me, anything by Chopin. Also Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D Minor is top shelf. Even cooler to know that he wrote it expressly to help him in his job as a pipe organ certifier, it was designed specifically to put a pipe organ through its paces.
