Somewhere between 1st and 3rd grade I remember being read a book series. Sadly, my memory of it is vague. But I'd really like to get a name, so I'll say all that I remember...

All I really remember about the book is that it took place in a school, but the main characters in the school weren't in a normal class. They were either on a half floor(like Floor 5 1/2) or on a floor that the rest of the school didn't know existed. Their teacher was eccentric and fun. I don't remember any of the characters names. That's all I really got :-(

Oh, and it's NOT The Magic School Bus. Just getting that out of the way now.

Was it the Wayside School series? It was about a school that was built sideways and it was missing the 19th floor. I read those around the same grade, the only thing I remember was in one chapter the janitor had to carry a heavy computer up the stairs to the top floor. Then the teacher threw it out the window to demonstrate gravity, if that's not eccentric nothing is.
