I asked a lady that works there about the price match policy the other day ,and she says that the price match on the receipt is only effective up to 7 days after buying something. So is this true? That the price match only works after the 7 days are up?

I was never able to confirm it, but it sounds likely, seeing as ads are only good for a week. The prices all change by the following weekend.

I think it's also only effective if the price appears in one of their competitor's flyers/ads, which you'd have to bring in to verify the price. I'm sure there are other catches to this as well.

Fortunately, most Wal-Mart have the competitor's local ads near their registers, or in the cash office, so cashiers can call or get assistance from management to confirm the price difference.

The fastest way, however, is to bring in your own ad.

I've used the price matching once. All I had to do was prove the different price, and the cashier performed a price override and that's all there is to it.

You are correct, that is one thing they absolutely refuse to do.

They'll state the reason is that one store's pricing or computer error doesn't affect all stores, and they'd be losing money or violating company policy to reflect their sister store's snafu.

Which, to be fair, is fair.

They are at least starting to price match their website prices, however. It depends on who you talk to, but most times the cashier or department manager will give you the green light to match. Some of the higher up management will give you a hard time about it and tell you that they won't, but they do. The Electronics Department cashier told me that rather than lose a sale, they'll price match.

If you don't feel like ordering from their website, sale lost.
If they won't match the price in store, sale lost.
If they won't price match the item from a sister store, you'll just end up going to that store and the sale still goes to Wal-Mart in the end.

I work at Wal Mart, in our CBL's it tells us that we cannot price match a price on a receipt.

Also, the reason prices are different at different Wal Marts is because each store is in a different competition market.

The one I work at doesn't have any stores that it competes with, the one less then 10 minutes away competes with a Target. Therefore, the one competing with Target has better prices.

When Walmart moved into my area. 3 barbershops closed up. Several small variety stores closed. 1 auto mechanic place. The local independent video store. Thats just off the top of my head.

But don't they give out gift cards if you don't have a receipt? Gift cards that have to be used at THAT store. So wouldn't that mean that the money go's back in to the store? They don't gain but they don't lose. At least that's how I see it.

Besides after wally-world almost screwed me and the misses over a return (yes we had the receipt) I say go for it those of you who don't have the receipts!

No, not always do they issue a refund on a gift card, sometimes it's cash. And even though the money goes back to them when given a gift card, they must either retry to sell what you've returned at a discounted rate, or they must return it to the manufacturer, or try and get a credit out of their loss.

Which, in turn, comes back to us. When a product doesn't sell, they either stop carrying it, or they jack up the price to offset their costs and losses.

And just because Wal-Mart screws you over, doesn't give you the right to do this. If you really want to hurt Wal-Mart, go to their competition. Give Target and Amazon more of your business.

Trying to defraud them is not going to get you anywhere, and sooner or later, Wal-Mart will finally just say "Screw it. Let's see if they like this new policy..." and no one gets a return. Even if they need it.

I know I'm talking to a bunch of brick walls here, but at least it's getting said.

All Wally-World's, and Failget's I've been too have always exchanged giftcards for items without receipt's.
