I've recently noticed that more and more of my friends on facebook playing Farmville (including my own mother #-o

), and everywhere I look, they've filled the site with all that crap! I myself played for a while, but it was never enthralling enough to make me want to post things like "I need bricks for my chicken coop" for hours on end.
My main reason for making this topic is just to see how many people hate the game as much as me, but if you DO like Farmville, I'd like to ask that you please state your reasons.

I hate Facebook in general. I don't want to read about everytime someone goes to the toilet or has a haircut. If I have something important to say to someone, I phone them or send an email.

Its stuff like "Farmville" ect that convinced me that Facebook was just a massive timewasting exercise.

What's to hate? It's a Facebook application that's easily blocked so you never have to be bothered by it again.

I don't hate Farmville. It's creators, Zynga, are a bunch of pricks who made plagiarism a design philosophy.

To answer the question: YES. I dislike all those "-Ville" and "-Wars" games on Facebook. Pointless and boring...and generally attract children and noobs (No insults intended, merely stating opinion).

I played it for a while because a few of my friends were into it and having another neighbor would have helped them. I got bored with it quickly until they started with the Halloween stuff. Making things look spooky is one of my favorite things to do so I started playing again just for that.

I have a lot of co-workers that play it, Mafia Wars, etc. Peer pressure, even in the adult work world, is still quite a thing

In essence, that former founder/investor guy in that article hit it pretty much on the head. The games can rope you in for a little bit, but there was nothing there to keep me playing. Dull.

I have a hard enough time caring enough to answer my cell phone, let alone worrying about facebook......or twitter......or myspace. That stuff is extremely boring and silly to me. As Burn stated though, it is easily blocked or avoided completely.

Yes, because no matter if i block it, thousands of people are still wasting their lives on a half-game. Plus, i have played it before, and after that i hated it even more. So i'm not just blindly dismissing something without any idea of what it's like.

So you hate it "with a passion" because thousands of people enjoy it even though you don't? That's incredibly unreasonable. Just because you didn't like it doesn't mean no one else can.

I don't especially like the game, I don't spend anytime play it, however I can appreciate that other people do, which is fine, everyone is different after all. However, with that said, I don't spend anytime worrying about it either.

I usually don't worry about it. I put my time into more productive things like school and my hobbies. It's just hiding deep down. And i don't hate the PLAYERS. They can play this bore fest if they're into that sort of thing, it just the massive popularity that really spoils my milk. As long as i don't hear anything about it from my uncle, im fine.

I use to play the "MyCity" thing. It didn't get very big because you could only add one citizen per day and I had only about two other friends playing who could have added a citizen for me but didn't.

That was the point I realised how boring Facebook games are, especially those that require you to log in every day.

My mother-in-law is morbidly obsessed with it. She sleeps only about 2 hours a day because of it.

You guys know it's just an expression, right, and that it gets used far more often in a casual sense than anyone really means it passionately? If you're arguing for a return of value to the language, this expression was bankrupted long before this instance.

Maybe I'm just touchy, because I don't Farmville so much as I Cafe World. I love that game. And save me the semantic inquiries about whether or not my use of the emotion is applicable or excessive, because yes, I love Cafe World, and you can't stop me.
