Over the years I've gotten some wonderful gifts from family & friends. Then came the new sister n' law. One year she re-gifted one of her wedding gifts. Can't remember what it was but DH agreed, she re-gifted. The next year she really put some thought into my gift and gave me a gift certificate. Who can't use a gift certificate. Well, I tried to use it. Store manager said it was a gift certificate for engraving only!!
Darn...she got me again. Glad she's moved on to another family.
What's the strangest gifts you've received, or given.

Not a sheeple.
Think for yourself, don't let the magic TV box and social media do the thinking for you.
Question EVERYTHING!!
Just because you have a youtube review channel doesn't make you special.
I look forward to attending a Botcon soon only to settle matters with several idiots in person (yes this is a threat).

Okay, I have to be the one to say it. Donating money in someone's name to charity? That's not a gift, that's giving someone else a gift and telling them it's from me, then telling me that my gift is that someone else got a gift. That's the opposite of a gift.

My worst gift is actually based on a series of misconceptions, a very persisitent one. My entire family believes I love dragons. Every year they give me expensive dragon statues, books and related crap.
I hate dragons.
I. Hate. Dragons.

Honestly I can't say that about any gifts I recieved- it just seems wrong to bad mouth a gift someone spent their time and/or money just for me.
Ok, good will rant is done.
My family and friends know me well enough not to get me things I don't really like. Though I'd say the most disappointing gift I ever got was a G1 Ratchet when I was 4 or 5, if only because I found out for the first time that it looked nothing like the cartoon.

Well I'm not sure, I've gotten socks but I really liked them. (as a matter of fact I'm wearing them right now!)
Kaybe the fact that my aunt sent me twenty bucks, now that is not the interesting part, it's the fact she packaged it. Now she could've easily (and cheaply) just put it in with the Christmas card. and yes I said 'cheaply', my mom's side is just plain hell, except for two of my cousin's.

It's still a nice thought though, isn't it?
I usually get a calendar or a notebook, or some Christmas cards which donate all profit to charities, and I think they're a really nice gift.

Not really. I get a card while some kid in Peru gets a fancy new goat. I don't even get the good karma of having donated it myself.
