More Fusion bashes - Shockwave and Siren

Postby Ramrider » Sat Jul 22, 2006 10:26 pm

Here's another couple of Fusion mods I'm working on. The first is the obligatory reworking of Energon Shockblast into Shockwave.

Robot mode:

The new gun arm is made from a couple of MechMac components (the upper arm swivel and the elbow joint) and the barrel of the cannon is actually the torso from an old Zoid Hellrunner! I'll be padding out the gun to give it more solidity in due course (i.e. when I figure out what to pad it with).
Unfortunately, I just discovered that the epoxy resin I used to hold the shoulder joint in place hasn't bonded properly (that's what I get for using cheapio cement!), so I'll have to dig out my Araldite and do it properly.
I'm also going to redo the chest in a more G1ish manner.

Tank mode:

Pistol mode:

The pistol mode's also a work in progress; I'm still trying to work out exactly how I'm going to fold it for its best form, and if I'll fit a trigger somehow.

And here's Siren. Relatively early stages, but basically I had a spare Hot Shot (i.e. one...) and wondered what I could do with it. I was considering turning him into Nightbeat, but changed my mind when I was pottering with the designs.
Just a vehicle shot at the moment, and even then, it's still in bits while I paint it, but you can see where it's going...

Loving Shockwave. Why did the original have to have such a dumb arm design?

Siren's also interesting. Whenever I see someone use that mold I keep thinking I should buy one to use, but then I remember his absence of shoulders. (Any chance of fixing that?)

the low elbow on Shockwave's gun arm is really noticable. I wonder if there's any way to shorten his upper arm.

Thanks for the comments, all.

Thanks. I know... for a Shockwave homage, they really naffed up with the box arm. Still, I think between us all, we've come with some inventive ways to counter the problem...

I know what you mean about the mould. When I first got it, I didn't actually like it that much; I just bought it out of habit really. Then I got a second one so I could give the gun to Ironhide. And then I realised that with a few mods, he could make a pretty good Jazz (partway through, there's a thread around here somewhere...). Now I've realised there are quite a few other characters that could use the mould convincingly; Siren is just one of them.
As for the shoulders, I'm looking at the possibilities for modding them myself. If I come up with something, you guys'll be first to know...

I know; it kinda bugged me for a while too, but I think I've already trimmed out everything I can above the elbow. Anything else I remove might compromise the upper arm swivel piece. I'll be having another look to see if I've missed something, but anything more that I can remove won't make much difference. To be honest, though, I think I can live with the current length.

At least he has an elbow now... :P
